Your responsibilities

As a PhD student, you will engage in your doctoral education and the research projects you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental assignments, up to 20% of full-time.

Within the department, several different research orientations are represented. Notably, we have a group focused on potential theory and analysis in metric spaces (see Nonlinear Potential Theory - Linköping University (https://liu.se/forskning/potentialteori)), which this project is primarily intended to address.

Your qualifications

You have completed a master's degree or finished courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level in a field related to the doctoral subject area. These 60 higher education credits must include an independent project, thesis, of at least 30 higher education credits in a subject relevant to the field, or those who have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge domestically or internationally. This also includes courses or thesis in mathematics-oriented applied subjects. The eligibility requirements for the position must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made, i.e., when the employment contract is signed.

You should have a strong interest in fundamental research. As a PhD student, a good ability to work independently and drive projects forward, to engage with new questions, and a good collaborative ability are required.

International experience and a thesis relevant to the position are meritorious.

Great emphasis will also be placed on personal qualities and suitability.

Applicants must have a very good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Your workplace

You will be employed as a PhD student in mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, Division of Analysis and Didactics (ANDI). The ANDI division consists of about twenty-five teachers, researchers, and PhD students. Research in mathematics is conducted both theoretically and applied across various branches of mathematical analysis. The division also conducts research in mathematics didactics, but this announcement only concerns mathematical analysis. About the position

Upon taking up the position, you will be admitted to the doctoral program. Read more about the respective faculty's doctoral education here (https://liu.se/forskning/forskarutbildning).

The position is limited to four years full-time. You will initially be employed for one year, and thereafter the employment will be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time, based on the achieved study plan. Extension of employment up to five years can occur based on the degree of teaching and departmental assignments. In special cases, further extension may occur.
