Your Responsibilities

Your starting point as a teacher in after school care is to work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and value-based work according to the curriculum. The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.

As a teacher in after school care, you view the entire school day of the student as important, and therefore collaborate with both guardians and colleagues regarding the student. As part of this, the after school care and school activities collaborate to achieve higher goal fulfillment and create the best conditions for each student. You base your work on the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching.

You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection during both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit the students' learning, as well as your own and the development of the organization, you take advantage of the experiences and knowledge of various professions.

In this position, you will work as a resource in the classroom in the morning and as a teacher in after school care in the afternoon. The after school care's opening hours are Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00, so the position may involve both morning and evening care. The working hours for the position may vary depending on whether you have the opening or closing of the after school care.

This position as a teacher in after school care may also involve departmental responsibility, which is determined based on the needs of the organization and the competencies of the employees.

Your Workplace

Himnaskolan is centrally located in Linghem and has about 530 students in grades F-6 and approximately 70 educators working in the school and after school care. Grades 5 and 6 belong to Himnaskolan but are located at Linghemsskolan. The surrounding area has both forests and large green spaces, as well as a heated outdoor pool.

The school has three after school care departments for students in grades F-1, one department for students in grade 2, and one department for students in grades 3-6. The staff is organized into work teams where the school's staff collaborates with the after school care staff for the benefit of the students. We have qualified and competent staff who continuously work to develop the organization with a strong focus on collegial learning. Right now, we are working on the soft skills in the school's after school care and will continue to drive development work around that.

At Himnaskolan, we involve students in creating comfort and safety at the school and after school care through student councils, class councils, food councils, and after school councils. The student council and the safety team organize activities for the students to increase community at the school. We actively work to create accessible learning environments to provide the best conditions for all students to succeed in school. Our goal and vision are to create a school that is permeated by safety, learning, and respect.

Who We Are Looking For

Primarily, we are looking for someone with a teaching license with qualifications in after school care. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a degree or completed education as a teacher in after school care. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education to become a teacher in after school care.

It is a requirement that you have experience as a teacher in curriculum-based after school care, either through internships or as an employee. It is advantageous if you have worked as a teacher in after school care for at least one school year.

In your role as a teacher in after school care, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. You have strong communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and implement the work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development according to the curriculum (Lgr22). You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a teacher in after school care, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in shaping the teaching. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document it. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are part of your professional role.
