Your responsibilities

The starting point for you as a preschool teacher is to have the overall pedagogical responsibility in the preschool. You are expected to lead and distribute the pedagogical work within the team while contributing to creating collegial learning. The team will work together to plan, teach, document, and evaluate the content of the activities based on the preschool's curriculum and other governing documents.

As a preschool teacher, you promote each child's development and learning based on their interests, experiences, and needs. You create curiosity and a desire to learn, both during planned activities and spontaneous moments.

Your role involves close collaboration with colleagues and guardians, as well as potential contacts with other actors around the child.

Your workplace

Valkebo preschools consist of two principal areas that together stretch from Västerlösa via Rappestad, Vikingstad, Sjögestad, and Nykil down to Ulrika, with a total of nine preschools. The operations are connected through the administration at Valkebo school where our principals, two special educators, and administration are located. All preschool teachers in Valkebo preschools participate once a week in a network aimed at collegial learning with a focus on the common language goal. Backgårdsgatan is part of Valkebo 1, which has a total of five preschools.

The preschool at Backgårdsgatan 33 is located in the heart of Vikingstad and accommodates 80 children. The preschool consists of four departments named Ior, Nalle Puh, Tiger, and Nasse. It is situated in a residential area and has well-adapted facilities for younger children as well as access to a wonderful outdoor environment. Here, children have rich opportunities for learning, development, and exploration. Language development is a prioritized part of the operation that promotes children's curiosity and interest in communication, both in speech and writing. We work project-oriented where children's interests have guided the focus of each department. Who we are looking for

We are primarily looking for someone with a preschool teacher license. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a degree from a preschool teacher education program. Alternatively, you may be at the end of your education to become a preschool teacher.

It is a requirement that you have experience working with children in a curriculum-based preschool through practice, as an employee, or voluntarily. It is an advantage if you have worked for at least a year in a curriculum-based preschool where you have worked with planning and teaching based on the curriculum.

You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out the work in accordance with the curriculum (Lpfö18) so that the child receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you create good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community relevant to your professional role. You have a good understanding of people's differences and approach them in a sensitive manner in teaching and the everyday life of the preschool. You lead the work with both children and colleagues through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also involves working with your colleagues on the applicable goals and quality standards for the preschool.
