Special Education Teacher at De Geergymnasiet

De Geergymnasiet is a results unit with about 800 students and 120 staff members. At De Geergymnasiet, we offer programs in: Aesthetics, Social Sciences, Humanities, Hotel and Tourism, and Adapted Upper Secondary School. Here, you will find only licensed teachers and a well-developed student health team.

We are looking for

an engaged and driven special education teacher who wants to be a central part of our educational activities. We offer a workplace where you have the opportunity to develop as a teacher and leader. Your responsibilities

As a special education teacher with us, you will work with targeted support for students and assist teachers in meeting students who need additional adaptations.

You will be part of our special education team in close collaboration with special teachers, the school's student health team, and management. Together, you will lead and coordinate the school's special education efforts focusing on ensuring that students in need of special support reach their educational goals and develop both academically and as individuals. You will lead the school's student health team.

You will work with general interventions at an overarching level but also at group and individual levels. You will identify and convey knowledge about additional adaptations, as well as develop and implement support structures and aids. You will conduct lesson observations to develop learning environments and approaches in classrooms from your special education perspective.

Furthermore, you will also participate in work with screenings, mapping, and investigations of students' needs for special support. You will coordinate handovers and receive information about new students and ensure that relevant information is communicated to those involved.

You will also be responsible for the systematic compilation of students' attendance and establish action plans based on decisions from the principal. The role also requires you to stay updated on current research in the field of special education.

Who are you

You have a special education degree and a teaching license for upper secondary or lower secondary school. Experience teaching at upper secondary or lower secondary school is an advantage. You have good IT skills and the ability to navigate various digital systems.

You have a good understanding of applicable laws, governing documents, and current research in special education. You are updated on compensatory aids and have good knowledge and competence in digital and formative learning processes.

As a person, we see you as service-oriented and genuinely interested in working with young people. You have good communication skills and are skilled at inspiring and motivating your colleagues.

You build trusting relationships in your contacts with students, colleagues, and guardians, and you have good leadership both in and out of the classroom.

It is also important that you are self-driven, meticulous, and structured. You must also be flexible and able to quickly switch between different tasks.
