Your Responsibilities

Your starting point as a preschool teacher is to have the overall pedagogical responsibility in the preschool. You are expected to lead and distribute the pedagogical work within the team while contributing to creating collegial learning. The team should work together to plan, teach, document, and evaluate the content of the activities based on the preschool's curriculum and other governing documents.

As a preschool teacher, you promote each child's development and learning based on their interests, experiences, and needs. You create curiosity and a desire to learn, both during planned activities and spontaneous occasions.

The educators at Alkottsgatan strive for the children to be active participants in their own learning process. This means that the children's opinions and ideas are taken seriously and that they have the opportunity to influence their everyday life at preschool. This can happen by allowing the children to participate in planning activities, choosing materials, and deciding how they want to play. The preschool promotes cooperation among the children, but also between children and educators.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you will closely collaborate with colleagues and guardians as well as any contacts with other actors regarding the child.

Your Workplace

Valkebo preschools consist of two principal areas that together stretch from Västerlösa via Rappestad, Vikingstad, Sjögestad, and Nykil down to Ulrika, with a total of nine preschools. The operations are connected through the administration at Valkebo school where our principals, two special educators, and administration are located. All preschool teachers in Valkebo preschools participate once a week in a network aimed at collegial learning with a focus on the common language goal. Alkottsgatan is part of Valkebo 1, which has a total of five preschools.

Alkottens preschool has three departments and space for 50 children. It has a well-thought-out and child-centered pedagogical operation. The preschool emphasizes that learning occurs through play, social interaction, exploration, and creativity. We also encourage children to learn by observing, conversing, listening, and reflecting. The preschool continuously works to develop its learning environments to stimulate children's imagination, creativity, and social interaction. Language development is a prioritized part of the operation that promotes children's curiosity and interest in communication, both in speech and writing.

The educators ensure that all children feel seen, heard, and respected. The preschool's departments have, among other things, shared cloakrooms, which create opportunities for children, guardians, and educators from different departments to meet and interact.

Alkottens preschool has a large and well-equipped yard that gives children the opportunity to play, explore, and move outdoors. The outdoor environment is an important place for social interaction, where children can play together, develop friendships, and learn to cooperate.

Who We Are Looking For

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who has a preschool teacher certification. Secondly, we are looking for someone with a diploma from a preschool teacher education program. Alternatively, you may be at the end of your education to become a preschool teacher.

It is a requirement that you have experience working with children in a curriculum-driven preschool through practice, as an employee, or voluntarily. It is an advantage if you have worked at least one year in a curriculum-driven preschool where you have worked with planning and teaching based on the curriculum.

You have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary so that you, according to the curriculum (Lpfö18), can organize and carry out the work so that the child receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a preschool teacher, you create good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are part of your professional role. You have a good understanding of people's differences and relate to them in a sensitive manner in teaching and the everyday life of the preschool. You lead the work with both children and colleagues through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also means that you, together with your colleagues, will work with the applicable goals and quality standards for the preschool.
