Your Responsibilities

You will conduct research within the project ‘Biomedicine, Clinical Knowledge, and the Humanities in Collaboration: A Novel Epistemology for Radically Interdisciplinary Health Research and Policy-Work on PostCovid-19 Syndrome’ (see https://liu.se/forskning/epistemologi-och-post-covid (https://liu.se/forskning/epistemologi-och-post-covid)). Specifically, you will be involved in the sub-project ‘A Novel Model for Policy-Work’.

One of the aims of the sub-project is to investigate what is considered relevant knowledge for policy work in healthcare, regionally, nationally, or internationally, how assessments are made, and what epistemological assumptions these assessments rest upon. The aim is also to develop a model that allows for the inclusion of both conventional randomized clinical trials as well as hermeneutically-oriented qualitative studies or other studies in medical humanities. Post-COVID is used as an example. In the analysis of knowledge assessment in the sub-project, medical sociological, science and technology studies (STS), phenomenological philosophical, and analytical philosophical perspectives are combined.

The doctoral project is part of the sub-project ‘A Novel Model for Policy-Work.’ The specific research question is open for formulation by the appointee in dialogue with supervisors, within the framework of the sub-project.

Your responsibilities include writing scientific texts in English, independently and collaboratively, participating in seminars in the project as well as at the Center for Medical Humanities and Bioethics and at the theme of Technology and Social Change.

As a doctoral student, you will dedicate yourself to your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental duties, up to 20% of full-time.

Your Qualifications

You have completed a master's degree or have finished courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the master's level, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. Special eligibility is granted to those who have knowledge equivalent to 90 higher education credits in a subject of central importance to the theme. Relevant education for the advertised position includes, for example, science and technology studies, sociology, philosophy, ethics, or related subjects.

Documented scientific competence in interdisciplinary work is meritorious. Documented scientific competence in analyzing knowledge production and knowledge assessment in healthcare is also meritorious. The tasks require that you have good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

You are structured and can plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively.
