Region Västernorrland is regionally responsible for development in Västernorrland. We initiate, coordinate, and drive efforts for regional development and growth both inter-municipally in the county and between regions in Norrland to strengthen our collective competitiveness and attractiveness. The Planning and Infrastructure unit coordinates and participates in the county's work with strategic planning focusing on community planning and infrastructure linked to the Regional Development Strategy.

We offer an interesting and exciting assignment together with competent colleagues, largely in collaboration with other associations, such as the county's municipalities, our northern regions, and relevant authorities.

The role of Strategic GIS Analyst is a new pioneering position with significant influence and development opportunities. You will develop our regional development responsibility by strengthening and developing collaborations in the area of planning and infrastructure by building up our GIS work. The work is therefore both strategic and operational.

There is a lot of positive activity in the area, and the opportunities to develop new and strengthen existing collaborations are great.

Strategic GIS Analyst for Regional Development, Härnösand

Job Responsibilities

• The work will both start from given frameworks and orders to a more challenge-driven approach. This means you need to be confident in your role as a GIS analyst and have the ability to switch between more operational GIS work, data management, and capturing your assignment in a strategic discussion.
• Work in close collaboration with community analysts and strategists in a variety of areas.
• The work involves many contacts internally within the administration and sometimes externally, so the ability to collaborate and cooperate with others is central to the position.
• You will have significant personal responsibility but are also expected to leverage the collective knowledge of your future colleagues while contributing your experience and specific expertise.
• Participate in various collaborations related to Strategic Community Planning at inter-municipal and inter-regional levels.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who

• Has an academic degree focused on geographic information technology, cultural geography, community planning, or equivalent deemed suitable by the employer for the position
• Has good knowledge of GIS
• Has work experience from, for example, municipalities, regions, or authorities
• Has previous experience in project work
• Has good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
• Has a B driver's license

It is an advantage if you

• Have good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form
• Have knowledge and practical skills in spatial analytical methods
• Have knowledge and experience in data management, databases, programming, and statistics
• Have experience with software such as QGIS and R
