GIL has been coordinating personal assistance since 1989. The cooperative has roots in the Independent Living movement, which is based on the principle that individuals with disabilities know best how they want to live their lives. Typically, the person receiving assistance is the closest supervisor of the assistants, or a person with special knowledge about the needs of the individual is appointed.

As a personal assistant, you support a person with a disability to live the life they want to live. To attract and retain competent and satisfied assistants, we invest in training and events. We believe that development and meeting others lead to motivated and secure assistants who enjoy working with us.

We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a fantastic team and have a varied and enjoyable job assisting a girl at home, school, and during activities.

Position 1:

• Working hours: Day/evening 7-17, 16-21, 13-21 and every other weekend (approx. 70-80% position)

Position 2:

• Working hours: Evening/night 16-21, 22-07 awake night and every other weekend (approx. 70-80% position)

Position 3:

• Working hours: Evening 16-21, and every other weekend (approx. 50% position)

We would also like you to be able to work in the summer.

Your role as a personal assistant:

• Assist the girl with daily tasks at home, at school, and during activities.
• Help with personal hygiene, exercise, and meals.
• Communicate via computer and pictures – experience in this area is a plus.
• Be a safe and supportive presence in the girl's life by interpreting and understanding her needs.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a positive and caring woman with initiative and a desire to create structure in the work.
• Has the ability to be both independent and responsible.
• Speaks and understands Swedish fluently, as you will be interpreting her needs for others and during documentation.
• Has a driver's license for a manual car – as the girl has access to a car and the assistant may need to drive it when necessary.
• Experience with epilepsy is a plus, but not a requirement.
