The school consists of a large building with several entrances and different rooms that will be adapted to the needs of the operations. We aim for high competence and that all professions needed by the school will be available. We will build the school and many parts of the organization together. Welcome to Härryda Municipality and the resource school!
JOB DESCRIPTION
The main focus of your position is working in the school's after-school program together with a teacher in the after-school program. The work in the after-school program involves a rolling schedule where you will be responsible for both opening and closing the after-school activities. Together with teachers in the after-school program, you will plan, implement, and evaluate the after-school activities at the school.
As a support educator at the Resource School, you will be offered a student- and operations-oriented job, in close collaboration with colleagues. You will follow the students throughout the day, which means you will work pedagogically both in school, during breaks, and in the after-school program. The work is based on the needs of the target group and may include support in teaching situations, social contexts, and everyday moments.
An important part of the assignment is to support and develop the students' communication, based on each student's individual ability, which requires clarity, flexibility, and clear pedagogical methods (such as visual support and TAKK). In the role of support educator, you will encounter all aspects of the students' well-being, and the focus is therefore on good interactions and a low-arousal approach.
You will be part of a work team mainly consisting of teachers, special educators, and teachers in the after-school program. Collaboration around the students is a cornerstone of the operations. As a support educator, you have access to a broad and deep understanding of each student's strengths and needs, which is an invaluable asset in the development work at both the individual and group level. Together, we can create the best learning environments for each of our students.
As a support educator, you are expected to participate in team meetings and other meetings, as well as engage in our professional development initiatives. You will receive ongoing supervision in your role as a support educator from teachers/special educators.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has at least a 1-year post-secondary education in social pedagogy or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have documented experience working with children with NPF diagnoses (such as autism, ADHD, and language disorders). It is an advantage if you also have documented experience in addressing challenging behavior in a professional and low-arousal manner.
You use TAKK, visual support, and other forms of clear pedagogical methods. Your approach is low-arousal, and you see opportunities rather than obstacles. You are solution-focused and creative in a way that allows you to adapt the learning environment in a compensatory manner based on the students' needs.
You should be interested in interpersonal interactions and be good at building professional relationships with students, as well as in contact with guardians and colleagues. In working with the students, you need to be analytical and stay one step ahead to be able to meet and support in various situations. In your daily work, you need to follow established routines, which contributes to a safe learning environment where students have fixed structures to relate to.
You need to be independent but also actively participate in supervision.
To obtain employment, a criminal record extract from the police must be presented.
