Workplace Description

In August 2023, Vega school opened – a unique project for Haninge municipality where the culture and leisure administration and the education administration's staff work closely together in these premises to create opportunities for broader learning.

Vega school is located in Vegastaden; a newly built area just south of Stockholm with a commuter train station right next to the school. The building, which is one of the hottest and most monitored construction projects in Stockholm, has, in addition to operations for school and preschool classes up to grade 9, a full-size sports hall, public library, youth center, culture school, orchestra hall, and a café. The school's premises are spacious, modernly furnished, and contain everything required for high-quality teaching. When fully built, the school accommodates approximately 750 students in grades F-9, after-school care, and an adapted primary school. Currently, we have grades F-8 and an adapted primary school, and we will grow further in the fall. During the day, our premises are used by the school. After school hours, the culture school, associations, private individuals, and other actors conduct activities in the premises. Parts of the high school premises are also prepared for overnight stays during camps and tournaments.

As the newest and one of the most modern schools in the municipality, both research and proven experience will permeate the educational environment.

Job Description

Vega school is growing, which means we are now expanding our special teacher team. We are looking for a qualified special teacher with a focus on Swedish/mathematics who sees the opportunities for collaboration with the various actors and professional groups in the building. We strive for you to be innovative and to be a special teacher with special educational thinking and competence. This means that you think in terms of the individual, group, and support for the teacher in working with the entire group in a special educational manner. The grades you will be responsible for will be set together with the other two special teachers in the team and the school management. Therefore, it is important that you can work with all age groups.

As the school is newly started, it requires that you are creative, flexible, engaged, and have very good collaboration skills and see yourself as a team player. This means that you have a high ability to organize and structure your work, as well as have a drive and take responsibility for both developing a new operation together with your colleagues, the teaching, and your students. Of course, you are responsive to the development work the school will be undergoing during the construction phase in the coming years.

You always have a respectful approach towards people's differences and share the values of society and the school. You are responsive and flexible and feel a great responsibility for your students and the operation.

You have the ability to help other educational staff at the school grow in their interactions with our students. As a special teacher with us, you will be an important part of the student health team and the continued development of our student health work. We have a strong and competent student health team that works very closely together.

Your role includes both investigative and developmental work with a focus on preventive and health-promoting efforts. Through your role, you contribute to ensuring that our students who need special support receive an individualized and inclusive approach and interventions that lead to increased goal fulfillment. The assignment also includes working with support teaching for individual students with special needs.

You enjoy working closely with the school's work teams, and we are therefore looking for someone who is interested in participating and contributing to collegial learning. By communicating and taking responsibility, you contribute to a calm, safe, and pleasant working environment.

Requirements

In the investigative work, you will, among other things:

• conduct in-depth pedagogical assessments/investigations
• be a support in the implementation of interventions based on the completed assessment/investigation
• be a support in the follow-up and evaluation work based on the completed assessment/investigation
• guide colleagues, coach, and provide tools to our educators to work in a special educational manner at the group level.

In the developmental work, you will, within your area of expertise, among other things:

• conduct training initiatives based on the school's identified needs
• provide guidance to the school's educators and work teams
• have good knowledge of digital tools that you pass on to our educators
• be a support in the analysis work at the individual, group, and organizational levels
• contribute to creating good learning environments for all students, focusing on group and organizational levels.
