Södertörns högskola is an institution in Stockholm that educates, researches, and collaborates for sustainable societal development. Approximately 14,000 students study here across around 80 programs and over 300 courses. We are now looking for a PhD candidate in Business Administration for the research project on Sustainable Development in Swedish Island and Archipelago Communities.

The overarching research question of the project is: What are the lessons learned from previous and ongoing development projects related to social, cultural, economic, and ecological sustainability, and what are the projects' experiences from their applied development models for small island communities in a Swedish context? The potential contribution of the project is to collaboratively develop and disseminate knowledge about models, methods, tools, and policies that are contextually adapted to promote sustainable and vibrant island and archipelago communities. Within this overarching framework, the PhD candidate has the opportunity to independently specify and choose their research questions, methods, and research design within their dissertation work.
