RSU Södermalm-Skarpnäck is a regional special education group for students who need a different context for a period to advance their social development and learning.
We are located in our own newly renovated and purpose-adapted premises on Högbergsgatan, Södermalm, and are part of Åsö primary school's responsibility. RSU provides targeted support for all municipal schools from the two districts for students in grades 4-9. The operation has a group for grades 4-6 aimed at students with high problematic absenteeism with currently 10 students. The second group for grades 6-9 is aimed at students with high norm-breaking behavior with currently 11 students.
In the RSU group, students are offered a smaller context with an adapted learning environment and individualized schoolwork in smaller groups. Students study according to the primary school curriculum. A total of 5 teachers (two with special educational competence), 2 counselors, and 1 part-time study and career counselor work here.
Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for a structured, engaged, and communicative teacher for leisure/home leader who enjoys working with students facing challenges in their learning and social interactions. You have a solution-focused approach and are creative in how you meet students' needs. You have a good ability to build relationships with students and collaborate with your colleagues. You can interpret social interactions among students and be an adult role model by showing a safe and trust-building approach.
The main task is to be responsible for planning and implementing break activities during the school day and to support students in their work during the school day. The majority of the position is currently primarily directed towards the student group in grades 6-9 and is briefly described as follows:
- You coordinate the school start in the morning with students and guardians.
- You are an active support during the school day's lessons.
- You plan and implement breaks for the entire operation with the aim of creating active breaks with movement and social development with mixed student groups.
- You, together with the counselor, plan and implement value-based sessions with the students.
- You can take pedagogical responsibility for 1-2 practical aesthetic subjects.
- You provide support and coaching to students and guardians regarding students' attendance, late arrivals, breaks, and social development.
- You, like your colleagues, contribute to the everyday service of RSU.
- You participate in meetings with your work team, in collegial learning, and other conferences/training.
Qualifications
- You are a qualified teacher with a license for leisure/home leader.
- You have the authority to teach 1-2 practical aesthetic subjects.
- You have knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities and experience working with children/youth in special education groups or similar.
- You are well-versed in the central content and skills in the new curriculum texts and can base your planning, implementation, and evaluation of the operation on these.
- You have experience documenting, following up, and evaluating/reflecting.
- You have good communication with guardians and are used to collaborating with external actors such as social services, BUP, and habilitation.
- You master the Swedish language fluently in both speech and writing.
