The Department of Children and Education works on behalf of the preschool committee and the primary school committee. The department is responsible for preschool activities, school-age childcare, primary school, and adapted primary school. Our most important mission is to give all children and students in Huddinge the opportunity to develop to their full potential in a safe educational environment. Vårby schools consist of three schools: Vårbackaskolan F-3, Grindstuskolan F-3, and Vårbyskolan 4-9, with a total of about 550 students. We have almost only students with a different mother tongue, and many have specific language difficulties. Based on their needs, we must ensure that they receive the support they are entitled to. Since we believe in differentiated instruction, where students should remain in their social context as much as possible, we need to broaden the staff's competence instead of placing students in a special education group.
You will work together with our school's special educators to analyze our needs, develop measures that make a difference, conduct professional development, and support teachers, the student health team, and school management. We are good at conducting pedagogical investigations but do not have sufficient competence for the educators' measures to be 100% effective. You should be able to develop clear measures based on, for example, speech therapy assessments that benefit the continued learning of the students. You will work closely with school management and be an extended arm in ensuring that teachers and students have the right conditions to succeed.
Formal Competence
- Special education degree and several years of experience in reading and writing learning
- Teaching license for primary school
Your Profile
You are a licensed primary school teacher with special education training with a focus on speech and communication. You have experience working with students from multilingual backgrounds, students with specific language difficulties, and students with NPF.
You have a strong interest in developing pedagogical teaching and the language of learning, and a desire to develop teaching colleagues and students. You relate to others in a responsive, trustworthy, and smooth manner, creating engagement and participation. With good didactics and strong leadership, you create trusting environments. By listening and communicating, you solve tasks in a constructive and clear manner and have the ability to lead and motivate others to effectively achieve common goals. You are solution-focused, enjoy challenges, and have a broad perspective on issues, applying a strategic approach to them. You are secure, stable, and self-reflective, distinguishing between the personal and professional. You dare to be honest and straightforward and always start from the students' needs!
