Workplace Description

Language Center is a unit within the department for support around learning and student health. Language Center offers mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue in about 70 different languages for students in Stockholm's municipal schools. We currently have about 480 employees.

The purpose of Language Center's operations is to maintain and develop children's and young people's multilingualism and contribute to increased goal fulfillment for students with a mother tongue other than Swedish. As a teacher at Language Center, you will be mobile and have your workplace at several schools in the municipality.

Job Responsibilities

The work consists of mother tongue instruction and study guidance in the mother tongue for students in Stockholm's schools. The teaching mainly takes place in primary school grades F-9, but it is desirable to also teach at the secondary level. You will collaborate with colleagues and have teaching assignments at several schools.

Qualifications

We see mother tongue instruction and study guidance as a very important part of the student's language development and goal fulfillment. Language-developing methods in all subjects are therefore highly prioritized. We expect you to have a holistic view of students' learning and be curious about developing your profession with us. You have:

• current teaching language as your mother tongue
• good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
• good computer skills

Strongly meritorious with:

• teacher education with qualifications in the relevant language
• experience as a teacher
• previous experience with Language Center in the city of Stockholm
