Financial Controller at Ellevio – Develop accounting, processes, and the energy industry of the future!

About the role of Financial Controller

The work as a Financial Controller is broad, ranging from theoretical investigations to more daily operational tasks. A large part of Ellevio's invoicing and accounts receivable processes are handled internally by a function outside of Finance, while other transaction-based services, such as accounts payable, fixed asset accounting, and certain accounting services, are outsourced. Instead of working operationally with these tasks, we within Financial Control are responsible for steering, requirement setting, and quality assurance of the processes. We also serve as support to internal and external functions in their daily work.

Here, you will have a central role linked to Ellevio's invoicing process; Accounts Receivable (AR). You act as the link between Finance and our invoicing, collections, and credit functions, as well as outsourcing partners, ensuring that internal controls, legal requirements, and accounting principles are followed.

The role also includes independent accounting responsibility for four smaller holding companies.

You will among other things:

  • Be responsible for accounting, reconciliations, and analyses related to the AR process.
  • Be responsible for closing processes, reconciliations, and preparation of annual reports for the holding companies.
  • Work with VAT, energy tax, declaration materials, and contacts with the Swedish Tax Agency.
  • Ensure quality in monthly and annual financial statements and contribute to reporting and follow-up, such as analysis of doubtful customer receivables.
  • Drive and participate in improvement work within invoicing, payment solutions, systems, and working methods.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Control, invoicing/accounts receivable, outsourcing partners, auditors, and other parts of the Finance function.

The team you are part of consists of knowledgeable, non-hierarchical, and engaged Controllers who are part of the Finance department supporting various parts of our operations.

The position is located at our headquarters on Valhallavägen, very close to Gärdet, with easy access to both good transport links and beautiful green areas.

For you to fit and thrive in the role

We are looking for you who have a university degree in economics, or equivalent experience, and who have worked independently for a few years with accounting and preparing monthly and annual financial statements. You have a good understanding of the Swedish Companies Act (ÅRL) and accounting frameworks such as K3, and are accustomed to handling large amounts of data in Excel. Your ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing, must be very good. We view it as positive if you have experience with or an interest in using digital tools, analytics tools, and AI to streamline processes, strengthen the quality of analyses and reporting, and contribute to the development of the company's working methods.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and collaborative. You thrive with deadlines, see patterns and deviations in data, and have the courage to stand by your assessment when accounting principles, processes, or regulations need to be clarified.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with VAT, energy tax, or other tax issues.
  • Experience from transaction-heavy companies or process-intensive finance functions.
  • Knowledge in database management, Power BI, or other business intelligence systems.
  • Experience working with process development, system changes, or internal controls.
