Konstfack is Sweden's largest university of fine arts, design, and craft. Since 1844, we have educated a wide range of professional groups within these fields, as well as art and craft teachers. The current position is located within the Interior Architecture specialization at the Department of Design, Interior Architecture and Visual Communication (DIV). At DIV, education and research are conducted within design, interior architecture, and visual communication. The department offers programs at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. At the department, artistic practice is combined with critical and socially oriented knowledge development. DIV's research environment is under development, and as a professor, you are expected to actively lead this development for the Interior Architecture specialization.

Within the subject area of Interior Architecture and Furniture Design, a three-year bachelor's program (180 ECTS credits) and a two-year master's program in spatial design (120 ECTS credits) are offered. Creative and spatial experiments and investigations are combined with furniture design and the creation of prototypes. The education is profession-oriented with theoretical and practical studies located in drawing studios, ateliers, and workshops. The students' artistic development is intertwined with technical, ecological, ethical, as well as societal and market-oriented knowledge.

Main Responsibilities

The duties include:

• Overall responsibility for the artistic and pedagogical leadership within the faculty, as well as the development of the subject area.
• Active participation in teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels.
• Conducting research within the subject area.
• Leading, developing, and expanding the research environment.
• Initiating research applications and seeking external funding nationally and internationally.
• Promoting national and international collaboration with academia, the profession, and societal actors.
• Participating in Konstfack's joint work, and being part of Konstfack-wide and department-specific working groups.

Employment

The employment covers 60–100 percent of full-time work for a maximum of five years, with the possibility of renewed employment for an additional maximum of five years. The desired start date is January–April 2027. The work is based at Konstfack with several sessions each working week. Remote work from abroad is not possible. Qualifications and Evaluation Criteria

Qualifications and evaluation criteria for the employment of teachers are specified in the Higher Education Ordinance and in Konstfack's employment regulations. By "qualifications" is meant the minimum requirements that must be met to be considered for the position. By "evaluation criteria" is meant the factors that are assessed and weighted in addition to the qualifications, provided the qualifications are met.

The qualifications for this position are:

• A university education at least at an advanced level relevant to the content of the position, or other professional experience assessed as equivalent with reference to the content of the position.
• Documented pedagogical competence within higher education or other relevant education.
• Documented practice in interior architecture, spatial design, and/or furniture design.
• Documented experience of collaboration within or outside academia.
• Experience of conducting research relevant to the subject area.
• Artistic competence.
• Good language skills in English.

The evaluation criteria for this position are:

• Established professional and/or research practice in interior architecture, spatial design, and/or furniture design.
• Good experience in leading collegial development work and good communication skills.
• Good ability to initiate, lead, and develop research projects and research environments, as well as attract external funding.
• Particular competence in interior architecture, spatial design, and/or furniture design.
• Good pedagogical competence.
• Good ability to integrate critical perspectives, including perspectives on sustainability and transition, into research and teaching.
• Good knowledge of current research within the subject of interior architecture, spatial design, and/or furniture design.
• A doctoral degree in a relevant subject area.
• Active in national and/or international networks relevant to the subject area.
• Good organizational and administrative skills.
• Good language skills in Swedish or another Scandinavian language.

University Teaching Education

For work as a professor, associate professor, and lecturer (with an employment period longer than two years), it is required that the employee has completed university teaching education at Konstfack or another higher education institution, or has otherwise acquired corresponding knowledge. An applicant who is otherwise considered qualified but lacks university teaching education must start the education (equivalent to 7.5 ECTS credits) to acquire the missing qualification no later than within one year from the start of employment.
