Within the Orthopedic Area of Operations at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), approximately 500 employees work, and we are one of Sweden's largest orthopedic operations with activities in both Lund and Malmö.

Every year, we receive approximately 85,000 visits at our clinics and have about 6,700 inpatients. Children and adults of all ages visit our clinic for various orthopedic conditions. The Lund orthopedic clinic provides highly specialized care and handles patients from the arthro, trauma, tumor, and pediatric sections. Here, plaster technicians, nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, counselors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, administrators, and medical secretaries work. We work in cross-professional teams where collaboration, service, and high-quality care are cornerstones of our operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a plaster technician at the orthopedic clinic in Lund, you are part of a team of plaster technicians who staff the clinic's two plaster rooms. You work both independently and in close collaboration with other plaster technicians, doctors, and rehabilitation staff. In addition to performing plaster treatments prescribed by doctors at the daily clinics, technicians book their own patients for removal/re-application of casts (including wound dressings if necessary), adjustment of orthoses, series casting for toe walking, plaster treatment for children with PEA together with the clinic's physiotherapists, plaster treatment prescribed by the diabetic foot clinic, performing casting during surgery, and training medical students in plaster techniques. The responsibilities also include medical record documentation, telephone counseling, and handling cases in 1177.

Our plaster technicians are also scheduled for nursing assistant duties at the clinic during certain shifts to provide relief and variation in work. Your tasks during these shifts include, among other things, clinic work together with doctors, suturing, wound care, sample collection, and pre-op preparations. The clinic operates on weekdays during daytime hours.

The work offers both variety and stimulation and is educational with opportunities for personal development, competence development, and participation in the clinic's development work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who have completed plaster technician training and are trained as a nursing assistant, meeting the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for a protected professional title, regardless of whether you studied under the previous or current program structure. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are also required.

We would like you to have several years of experience in performing plaster treatments as well as experience as a nursing assistant with good knowledge of orthopedic care. It is also meritorious if you have experience with clinic work, pediatric orthopedics, and advanced wound care (such as negative pressure wound therapy for difficult-to-heal wounds). If you also have experience with the Pasis and Melior systems, we see this as an advantage.

We are looking for you who have drive and commitment to perform good work with a focus on high quality. You need to be secure in your professional role and comfortable making your own assessments and independent decisions, although there will always be colleagues to discuss with. Furthermore, you are non-hierarchical, flexible, can handle varying work paces, and have a good ability to prioritize and organize your work.
