The Palliative Care Department is organizationally part of the Administration for Close Care and Health, Business Area (VO) Mobile Teams and Specialized Palliative Care, Southwestern Scania. We offer specialized palliative care and collaborate closely with Advanced Home Care (ASIH), as well as hospitals, primary care, and municipalities to provide the best possible care for our patients.

The Palliative Care Department in Malmö is an inpatient ward with 12 beds. Patients offered care by us are in a late palliative stage or in need of symptom stabilization.

We work in interdisciplinary, physician-led teams where the focus is on making a difference every day for our patients and their loved ones. Competence development is offered individually through relevant higher education courses, training developed within the Palliative Development Centre, competence development time, as well as ongoing internal training and lectures.

We are now looking for nurses who find it interesting, developmental, and value-creating to work in a business where the patient's needs are at the center.

Job Responsibilities

Patients registered in the activity require specialized palliative care, meaning they have a complex symptom picture or their life situation entails special needs. The needs may be physical, psychological, existential, or spiritual, or a combination of several.

As a nurse, your tasks and nursing care vary from handling injections, infusions, medication pumps, catheterization, oxygen therapy, and wound dressings to participating in close nursing care and contributing with supportive conversations and support for relatives. In this role, it is important that you are curious about continuous development and that you contribute with your competence and communication skills to help us achieve set goals.

You are part of an interdisciplinary team working based on person-centered care, where the goal of care is to collaborate on and alleviate symptoms to achieve the highest possible quality of life for the patients.

The advertisement covers day, evening, and weekend shifts, and your employment is at the Palliative Care Department.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with the eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale are required. We would appreciate it if you had specialist training or further education in palliative care and/or experience working in palliative care.

As a person, you are empathetic, calm, and secure, and have an easy time communicating. You are a natural team player and you see the whole picture regarding the patient and their needs. You contribute with solutions and suggestions to develop our work. Furthermore, you are curious, flexible, communicative, and enjoy challenges. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

This includes, among other things, mobile teams and specialized palliative care, reception activities within close care, emergency care within close care, 1177 by phone, as well as some region-wide common functions. Additionally, the administration is responsible for the development and follow-up of the transition to close care in Region Skåne. The number of employees is estimated to be around 1,000.
