The Special Judicial Training with Service at Mora District Court

Svea Court of Appeal is the largest court of appeal in the country, with approximately 460 employees. The court's premises are beautifully located on Riddarholmen in central Stockholm. The court employs approximately 50 law clerks (hovrättsfiskaler) each year. Consequently, several applicants are admitted at each recruitment occasion. Becoming a law clerk is the step after serving as a notary. The judicial training includes service at both the Court of Appeal and the District Court.

Within the framework of the existing judicial training, there is now an opportunity for employment where the service as a district court law clerk is located at Mora District Court.

About the Judicial Training

The judicial training consists partly of practical service in the District Court and the Court of Appeal, and partly of theoretical education organized by the Judicial Academy. It can be compared to a trainee program, and the practical service constitutes a very important part of the training. In addition to the common courses within the framework of the Judicial Academy, the Court of Appeal and the District Courts provide certain additional education. The Court of Appeal has an overall responsibility for the judicial training throughout the entire training period.

The practical part of the training includes service as a law clerk in the Court of Appeal for at least one year, as a law clerk in the District Court for at least two years, and as an adjunct judge in the Court of Appeal for one year. The law clerk/acting assessor constitutes a significant workforce for the court throughout the entire judicial training. The law clerk's/acting assessor's work should be planned so that the tasks contribute to achieving the goals of the judicial training. The Judicial Academy is responsible for the theoretical education, which consists of nine mandatory courses during the judicial training.

The judicial training offers a unique opportunity to acquire extensive legal knowledge and experience from different courts. Choosing the judicial path means that you will contribute daily to a democratic and law-abiding society where you work for everyone's right to have their case heard in an impartial court.

Qualifications etc.

To begin the special judicial training, you must have completed the notary education. Working at the court requires that admitted law clerks meet high demands regarding, among other things, professional competence and judgment.

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period. After a successful probationary period, the employment becomes permanent.

Start date: The Court of Appeal hires new law clerks with start dates on January 1, March 1, May 1, September 1, and November 1 annually.

The cover letter needs to contain only a brief justification for why you want to undergo the special judicial training.

The Court of Appeal currently also has an advertisement for the special judicial training without a designated location. You can find this advertisement under "Vacant Jobs" at www.domstol.se. Note that you should only submit one application even if you apply for both the regular and the designated location. In the application form, you must state which or which services you are applying for as well as the order of priority.

An application remains with the Court of Appeal in the court's applicant bank for six months after it has been submitted, regardless of whether you have applied only for the regular location, only the designated location, or both.

The application must be received by the Court of Appeal no later than August 15, 2026.

In accordance with the Court of Appeal's employment routines, register checks will be conducted in the event of employment.
