About the Unit

The Multilingualism Unit organizes mother-tongue instruction, study counseling, and reception of newly arrived students. The teachers at the unit provide study counseling and teach in approximately 20 different languages and in Swedish as a second language.

Through collegial learning, we continuously strive to improve and develop pedagogical practice. Our focus is on pedagogical development, professionalism, and job satisfaction.

The unit has meeting rooms and workspaces at Torpskolan, a central location in Lerum with good transport connections by train and bus. The starting point for the position is Torpskolan, but work takes place at several of the municipality's schools. Adjustments may be made based on the operational needs.

Job Responsibilities

Your assignment includes providing study counseling in Hebrew for students in all school forms within compulsory school and upper secondary school. You function as a language and knowledge support for the students and contribute to creating good conditions for their learning and goal achievement.

You participate with joy and engagement in meetings, competence development, and collegial learning. Planning, implementation, evaluation, and development of the pedagogical work are carried out both independently and together with colleagues and work teams.

As a study counselor, you collaborate with teachers, student health services, and other school staff to support the student's language and knowledge development.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a positive force in the workplace and have an easy time creating and maintaining good relationships with students, guardians, colleagues, and school staff. You are developmental in your leadership, a good listener, and have an easy time finding solutions in different situations.

You are flexible in your pedagogical approach and meet students with respect, encouragement, and high expectations. In collaboration with school staff, you are cooperative and solution-oriented while being clear in describing the study counselor's role.

You value your own learning and professional development together with others. Flexibility, teamwork skills, and good communication are important qualities in the position.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of Hebrew and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• At least upper secondary education or equivalent.
• Completed SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) and at least SAS Grund or equivalent.
• Good familiarity with using digital tools.

Merits

• Teacher education or other pedagogical university education.
• Experience working with multilingual students, study counseling, or teaching.
• Driver's license and access to a private car.
