Job Description

As a casual staff member (timvikarie) within Gävle Municipality, you will have a varied workplace where you work with children and young people in preschools, primary schools, and/or upper secondary schools. Within the school system, you can work as a teacher's assistant or student assistant. In preschools, you can work as a preschool teacher's assistant, childcare assistant, or nursery caretaker.

You are a vital part of maintaining high quality in educational activities. Through your work, you ensure that teaching, student support, and childcare can continue during the absence of regular staff or during periods of temporarily high workload.

You step in when and where you are needed. This is flexible work, and you will have the opportunity to handle varied tasks across different units.

Working hours as casual staff can vary from day to day, depending on the needs of the organization. Some weeks may involve heavy workloads, while others may be lighter. We expect you to be available to work at least 50% of a full-time position. The more you can work with us, the better.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting operations during the absence of regular staff and during periods of high workload
• Supporting students and children in their learning and development
• Maintaining high quality in educational activities
• Following given instructions and working according to Gävle Municipality's core values
• Collaborating with colleagues in the work team and taking responsibility for the overall environment at the workplace

Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to work in Gävle Municipality's schools and preschools and contribute to a safe and high-quality educational environment. It is important that you have a genuine interest in the education and well-being of children and students.

Formal Competencies:

• Teacher or preschool teacher education with eligibility (for work as a qualified teacher or preschool teacher)
• Completed and approved upper secondary education (for work as a teacher's assistant/childcare assistant/nursery caretaker)
• Ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing

We also offer work as a student assistant. In this role, you need to be able to help a specific student who needs support to benefit from the education. This may involve a student with reading and writing difficulties, concentration problems, psychosocial challenges, or various types of disabilities.

To succeed in this role, you are:

• Collaborative and display an egalitarian approach in your cooperation with others
• Relationship-building and have the ability to create trusting relationships
• Flexible, with the ability to quickly understand the group's needs and the day's planning, as well as follow given instructions
• Confident in your leadership, with the ability to lead and motivate children/students, and contribute to creating a safe, stimulating, and developmental learning environment
