Organization and the Role

West Södermanland Rescue Services (Västra Sörmlands Räddningstjänst) was established in 1999 by the municipalities of Katrineholm and Vingåker. The association operates one full-time station in Katrineholm and five part-time stations located in Katrineholm, Vingåker, Björkvik, Julita, and Högsjö. The association employs approximately 80 people, including 35 full-time and 45 part-time staff members.

Starting next year, we are expanding our shift teams by adding an extra firefighter. The positions will have different start dates, but by January/February next year, all shift teams will be fully staffed.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want to work as a firefighter in emergency response services.

You will be part of an emergency response team responsible for handling incidents that require rescue operations.

The role includes training, equipment maintenance, and other routine tasks within the organization. The work also involves preventive duties such as public information and education.

Requirements

• SMO training with a certified smoke diving course according to AFS 2023:13 (or an older equivalent with a certified smoke diving course according to AFS 2023:13).
• Education and experience that the employer deems equivalent to the above.
• Category B driver's license (Category C license must be obtained before the probation period ends).
• Passing result on the treadmill test (4.5 km/h) and a medical examination.
• Certified swimming certificate – Gold Buoy level.

Merits

Selection Process

The selection process includes a work-related track featuring a treadmill test (4.5 km/h), followed by work-related practical tasks. This is followed by an interview with the recruitment group.
