About Us
Welcome to the Service Unit! Our mission is to support the core operations within the Care and Elderly Services Administration by ensuring that premises, transport, outdoor environments, and indoor environments function as efficiently as possible. This creates a pleasant atmosphere and a good working environment for both employees and users.
At the Service Unit, we are dedicated caretakers, and we are now looking for another colleague. We usually start the day with a joint morning meeting in our premises at Gastelyckan, featuring good spirits and dialogue regarding the day's tasks. We place great emphasis on courtesy, service, and quality towards both our users and colleagues.
This is a temporary hourly position. It is a varied role for you who want to be challenged and develop together with a competent team.
Do you have experience working as a caretaker? We are eager to learn more about you!
Job Responsibilities
As a caretaker here, you will face varied tasks, alternating between periods of high tempo and calmer moments. The duties range from office adaptations and renovations to gardening work and transport assignments. In your work, you will meet many different users and staff within home care services, elderly care homes, LSS housing, short-term stays, and other units within Support and Activation.
Your agenda for the day depends partly on the season. At this time of year, this may involve a lot of gardening work, such as trimming hedges, pressure washing paving stones, maintaining garden furniture, and tending to raised garden beds. Towards the end of the year, tasks may include hanging Christmas lights or other holiday decorations.
Inside the units' premises, tasks may include various assembly jobs: installing lighting fixtures, TVs, whiteboards, and furniture, as well as internal office moves. You may also perform minor repairs or renovations, such as spackling and painting.
Transport assignments involve moving inventory between different units of the organization, taking waste to recycling centers, emptying cellars and storage rooms, or transporting materials to the city archive.
Additionally, the role includes transporting medication from pharmacies to residences, samples from residences to the lab, and protective equipment (masks, gloves, etc.) to VoO units. These items are stored in our own warehouse.
We also manage the municipality's "Fix Service," a service for people aged 69 or older aimed at preventing falls. We help with tasks such as changing light bulbs or batteries in smoke alarms.
We are looking for you who
- Have a high school diploma or other education combined with experience that the employer deems relevant for the assignment. To succeed as a caretaker here, it is important that you have a few years of work experience in similar varied tasks. The role involves many lifting tasks and physically demanding moments.
- Are safety-conscious for yourself and others. You need to be accustomed to handling various types of machinery, have a good ability to assess risks, sound judgment, and a safety mindset when using machinery and tools. It is a great advantage if you have knowledge and experience handling relevant hand tools such as hammer drills, screwdrivers, multi-tools, grinders, saws, etc.
- Have at least a B-driver's license for passenger cars. A forklift license is meritorious but not a requirement.
- Have strong social skills, as the work involves many contacts both internally and externally. We place great value on teamwork and collaboration.
- Are service-oriented, patient, adaptable, flexible, and have good problem-solving skills. You are meticulous, structured, proactive, and driven. You are handy, self-reliant, and orderly.
- Have good Swedish skills in speech and writing, as well as being a proficient computer user, as the role involves significant communication with partners.
