Your Role

Saab is now looking for an Aircraft Test Engineer for our Flight Test Organization for Special Mission and Regional Aircraft.

As an Aircraft Test Engineer, you will be part of our Flight Test Section and work with the testing of our aircraft designed by Special Mission and Regional Aircraft, including GlobalEye, Saab 340, and Saab 2000.

The responsibilities include preparation, execution, and reporting of Ground and Flight Tests in our test aircraft. The work involves close contact within Saab with our Design Department, Airworthiness Office, and Maintenance Organization. Contact with external parties may also occur.

The testing activities involve translating a test requirement into a test program, defining the necessary measurement systems, developing a test plan describing how the test should be conducted, leading the flight test onboard the aircraft (as part of the crew), on the ground, or in the air, and evaluating and reporting the test results. The work is independent and requires both knowledge and initiative, as well as many contacts with, for example, design engineers, hangar technicians, and test pilots. The work is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work.

The position is located in Linköping; travel may occur within and outside Sweden.

Your Profile

It is important to note that the role requires flexibility and good adaptability, and perhaps most importantly, that you value working in a team where the collective result is central.

The work also includes an internal training program for test pilots/engineers. Training abroad at a recognized flight test school may be an option.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Has knowledge in avionics, radio, and communications (meritorious).
• Has interest and knowledge in Matlab and Python (meritorious, as the work normally involves some method development).
• Has a genuine interest in aviation.
• Has good language skills in Swedish and English, both oral and written.

Since the role normally involves you as an Aircraft Test Engineer being part of the crew, a valid Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate is required, which Saab will arrange as part of the recruitment process.
