Västergötlands Museum is an attractive visitor destination and a well-known cultural institution in West Sweden and nationally. With one of Sweden's richest collections of artifacts, around 40 buildings, extensive green areas, and a museum farm, the museum offers a unique combination of cultural heritage, nature, and research.
Västergötlands Museum is an independent foundation dedicated to conducting and promoting cultural heritage conservation and museum activities, as well as other cultural activities within the Skaraborg region. Collaborating with representatives of state cultural heritage conservation within the county and managing the foundation's collections, buildings, land areas, and other assets are also part of the museum's mission.

We are currently in a phase of development where several employees will be retiring in the coming years, which is why we are now looking for new team members.
Do you want to become one of our new archaeologists and build upon the knowledge and experience already present in the organization, while contributing new perspectives and ideas?
Responsibilities:
The role involves archaeological contract work, where you develop decision-making and knowledge bases in response to requests, primarily from the County Administrative Board.
You will lead and participate in research projects, collaborating closely with colleagues and taking responsibility for achieving project goals. You will also participate in other projects as a project team member.
As an archaeologist at Västergötlands Museum, you will also work with issues and cases within cultural environment conservation.
A key part of the role is building and developing long-term collaborations, both internally and externally.
To thrive in this role, you enjoy collaborating with others, take responsibility for your assignments, and communicate clearly and attentively. You contribute to a good work environment and value building strong relationships.
Qualifications:
- University degree in archaeology.
- Substantial experience in archaeological fieldwork and reporting.
- Documented experience in project management within contract archaeology.
- Documented experience in leading and conducting research projects.
- Experience with digital documentation techniques.
- Valid driver's license for passenger cars.
- Proficiency in Swedish and English, both written and spoken.
Merits:
- Advanced academic degree or specialization in medieval archaeology/agricultural history.
- Experience in applying for independent project funding.
- Experience in media communication.
- Experience in giving lectures.
Employment Terms:
- Type of Employment: Permanent position with a 6-month probation period.
- Scope: 100%.
