The National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually adapted involuntary care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge where you, regardless of role or workplace, contribute to creating life-changing changes.
About the Position
SiS Youth Home Råby admits both girls and boys. We have both closed and open places for closed youth care as well as treatment places for young people placed under the Young Persons Act (LVU).
Job Description
Do you want to help create the life-changing difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as a Treatment Assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your assignment is to motivate our young people and clients to new and less risky ways of living. As a Treatment Assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that routines on the ward function smoothly and play a major role in the stability and security of our young people and clients. You handle the basics of daily life, such as school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. You help maintain order and security on the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work.
You will work on building secure relationships and contributing to our young people and clients receiving the security and safety needed to break habitual behaviors. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.
Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our engagement, and our attitude.
Working hours are according to a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends. As a new employee, you will undergo SiS's basic training for 10 weeks. The training alternates between theory and guided introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing change. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. It is equally important that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You must also meet the following requirements:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or other equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.*
- Category B driver's license
- Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
- Experience from client-facing positions within, for example, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the Migration Agency, or LSS (Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments)
- Experience working with our target group (e.g., addiction care, youth care, young girls, etc.)
At SiS, we value good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration.
