Primary School Teacher (Grades F-3) at Emanuel School, Sjöbo

Emanuel School is a primary school (Grades F-6) located in central Sjöbo, with approximately 350 students. Here, we work together—students, guardians, and professionals—to create a safe, inclusive, and developmental learning environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential.

The first school years are crucial for students' continued learning. Therefore, we have high ambitions for our teaching and a shared focus on ensuring that every student receives high-quality instruction every day, in every classroom. We know that a strong foundation in language, reading, writing, and mathematical thinking opens doors for future learning and gives students the opportunity to grow both academically and socially.

Now, Emanuel School is embarking on an exciting development journey. Over the next three years, we will collaborate with Ifous with a focus on teaching quality. Through analysis, research, collegial learning, and systematic quality work, we will develop teaching together to strengthen students' learning and goal achievement. For you as a teacher, this means a unique opportunity to be involved in long-term, research-based development work together with engaged colleagues.

About the Position

We are looking for you who want to help develop teaching at Emanuel School. There is 1 position available for a primary school teacher (Grades F-3).

As a primary school teacher (Grades F-3), you will be part of a three-teacher team responsible for teaching in Grade 1. Together, you will plan, implement, and develop teaching with the students' learning as the focus. We are looking for a teacher who is curious, driven, and courageous. A teacher who sees opportunities where others see limitations and who wants to help develop teaching based on high expectations, strong relationships, and a clear focus on students' knowledge development.

You have a strong interest in early language, reading, and writing development and understand the crucial importance of the first school years for students' continued learning. At the same time, you are courageous in your mathematics teaching and dare to go beyond the boundaries of the textbook to create understanding, curiosity, and a desire to learn. You see teaching as something more than just following a book, and you create meaningful contexts where students get to explore, reason, and develop.

At our school, collaboration is a given. We believe in collegial learning and are looking for you who want to contribute to the school's development with the student's best interest at the center.

Your Responsibilities

The role includes, among other things:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in Grade 1 based on our governing documents.
  • Work systematically with students' language, reading, and writing development.
  • Conduct varied and developmental mathematics teaching with a focus on understanding, problem-solving, and reasoning.
  • Create safe, accessible, and stimulating learning environments where all students have the opportunity to succeed.
  • Follow up, analyze, and adapt teaching based on students' needs and progression.
  • Collaborate with guardians, student health services, and other professionals regarding students' learning and development.
  • Actively contribute to the school's development work and the upcoming Ifous project.
  • Participate in collegial learning and develop teaching together with colleagues.

Why Choose Emanuel School?

  • You become part of an engaged teaching team in Grade 1.
  • You get to develop teaching together with competent and engaged colleagues.
  • You participate in a three-year development project with Ifous focusing on teaching quality.
  • You get the opportunity for research-based development, collegial learning, and systematic quality work.
  • You work in an operation with high ambitions where teaching is at the center.
  • You collaborate closely with school leadership, student health services, and colleagues.
  • You get to help create the best conditions for every student and make a difference every day.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a certified primary school teacher with qualifications for Grades F-3.
  • Have good knowledge of Lgr22 and the school's governing documents.
  • Have a strong interest in early language, reading, and writing development.
  • Are courageous in your mathematics teaching and dare to try new methods to develop students' mathematical thinking.
  • Have high expectations for students' learning and development and use formative assessment consciously and systematically to support each student's progression.
  • Create safe, structured, and inspiring learning environments.
  • See relationships as the foundation for students' learning and development.
  • Are curious, engaged, and driven in your pedagogical mission.
  • Think creatively and dare to challenge established methods when it benefits students' learning.
  • Are a team player who contributes to collaboration, development, and a positive work climate.
  • Communicate well in speech and writing in Swedish.

Meritorious Qualifications

  • Qualification in Swedish as a Second Language (SvA).
  • Knowledge of and interest in early language, reading, and writing development. Sees the use of LegiLexi as a good support for mapping, follow-up, and development of students' reading and writing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of how students' mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills can be developed.
  • Understanding of collegial learning and systematic quality work as tools for school development.
  • Good digital competence and interest in integrating digital tools and AI into teaching.

Personal Attributes

You are driven by making a difference for students and see opportunities rather than obstacles. You have a stable foundation in your professional role, are secure, collaboration-oriented, courageous, and dare to try new ideas to develop teaching.

You are curious, solution-oriented, and want to contribute to both your own and the school's development through analysis, research, and collegial learning. With the student's best interest in focus, you take responsibility for creating good conditions for every student to succeed. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
