The urban development process is responsible for developing and safeguarding the living environment in Nacka by promoting good construction, good communications, and a healthy environment. As an employee in the areas of planning, development, building permits, surveying, and environment, you work to realize our visions now and for future generations.
We are looking for an experienced Building Inspector who can and wants to contribute to the development in one of Sweden's most dynamic municipalities – do you want to be part of it?
The Building Permits Department consists of three groups: Permit Handlers, Service and Development and Implementation and Supervision. We currently have 28 employees responsible for handling building permits, pre-decisions, notification cases, and supervision cases. You will join the Implementation and Supervision group, where you will become a member of the Technical Group together with four other Building Inspectors. The group also includes the Supervision Team and handlers for housing adaptation grants.
We are an inclusive team with a flat hierarchy and great respect for each other. We have diverse higher education backgrounds, ranging from architects to engineers and urban planners. We are now looking for someone who wants to become part of the technical group and help our residents realize their dreams. Here you will find opportunities for those who want exciting and varied work within construction and urban planning, to contribute with engagement and innovative thinking.
Your Role
In the role of Building Inspector, you are part of the unit's technical group and work with the entire implementation process. As a Building Inspector, you lead technical consultations with relevant parties before start-of-work decisions, conduct site visits, and lead final consultations. You are responsible for supervision cases during the implementation phase and are also involved in work within other supervision areas, such as HVAC system inspections (OVK).
You participate in urban planning projects where you collaborate with developers, contractors, and other units within the municipality. You continuously contribute to streamlining and improving the work by being a supportive colleague to other groups within the unit.
The role requires good teamwork skills and the ability to see the big picture in the Building Permits Department's joint mission. You contribute to a good work environment and act professionally in your role both internally and externally.
Competence and Experience
We are looking for you who have very good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Planning and Building Ordinance, and the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations. You have a broad technical education and experience of having worked for a few years as a Building Inspector. If you have in-depth knowledge in areas such as fire safety technology or other specializations, we welcome that.
To succeed in your role as a Building Inspector, you thrive both working independently and in teams. Analytical thinking and good decision-making skills are other important qualities, as well as being structured, responsible, and confident in your authority role. You want to work solution-focused and have a genuine interest in helping others. Naturally, you share our ambition to always provide Nacka Municipality's residents with the best possible service and professional treatment.
We place great importance on personal qualities and are looking for someone who is service-oriented, pedagogical, and can contribute to a good work climate. You work independently and take initiative to drive your work forward, but you also enjoy collaborating with your closest colleagues and other teams.
To succeed in the work, you need to have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written. The work involves many contacts with customers, so you need high integrity, empathy, and good communication skills. A driver's license is a requirement for the position as site visits are part of the job.
We offer you
In Nacka, you get the opportunity to work in a municipality that wants to be the best in Sweden at being a municipality, with openness and diversity as its vision. Our fundamental value is to trust people's knowledge, will, and ability. We are at the forefront with our digitalization work, which has significant effects on our processes.
We offer our new colleague:
- A fully digitalized process
- Short decision-making paths and extensive delegation
- Great opportunity to influence the handling process for case progress
- Extensive knowledge about building permits and planning within the unit
- We believe in the group's combined knowledge and unified assessments
- Flexible remote work
- Flexible working hours
- Holiday swapping
- Wellness time and wellness allowance
- Well-equipped gym in the City Hall
