The Building Permits Unit is part of the Community Planning Department in Södertälje Municipality. We are a unit of 22 employees, consisting of administrators, business developers, team leaders, building permit case officers, building inspectors, supervision officers, and the unit manager. In addition to processing cases, we place great emphasis on service and advisory work, which is why we are looking for someone with a strong focus on exactly that.

Your responsibilities

The position offers you the opportunity to work with both advisory services for the municipality's residents and businesses, as well as permit processing. Your main tasks will involve answering incoming inquiries via email and phone, and inviting parties to meetings, either digitally or physically, when requested. Some questions require coordination with other case officers, where good teamwork is essential. Permit processing will occur depending on the incoming workflow. Advisory work is a valued part of our job, contributing to happier applicants and more complete applications.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who have good communication skills and the ability to explain things pedagogically both verbally and in writing, and who are driven by providing excellent service. You must also be careful and structured in your approach to work. It is important for the role that you are unpretentious, have good organizational skills, work systematically, and see tasks through to completion. You take full responsibility for the whole and thrive in a team environment.

Requirements:

  • Relevant education in community planning, architecture, law, or other equivalent background.
  • Experience in professional customer contact with a high degree of service orientation and comfort in an advisory role.
  • Good knowledge of planning and building legislation.
  • Very good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Merits:

  • Experience with the case management system NOVA.

The workplace is centrally located in Södertälje, in the City Hall, a short walk from the commuter train station. We work in an activity-based office landscape in Södertälje City Hall. We have flexible working hours and the possibility of partial remote work is available. This position is a full-time permanent employment.
