The Swedish Parliament Administration is an agency tasked with facilitating the work of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament). Approximately 750 non-partisan employees work at the Swedish Parliament Administration, handling a wide variety of tasks. The Security Department of the Swedish Parliament Administration is now seeking a Protective Security Officer who wants to help protect Swedish democracy – a job that truly matters!
The Riksdag serves as the workplace for Members of Parliament, staff at party offices, and employees of the Swedish Parliament Administration. It is also a venue for numerous meetings and visits. High security standards are a prerequisite for an open Parliament. The decision-making process and parliamentary work must function seamlessly regardless of external events, and everyone must feel safe within the Parliament's premises.
Your responsibilities
As a Protective Security Officer, you play a crucial role. The primary focus is on guarding and surveillance, but you will also work with access and security checks, as well as in the reception area. Together with your colleagues, you will handle any situations that arise.
As a Protective Security Officer, you are a key ambassador for the Riksdag and the Swedish Parliament Administration. You will interact with MPs, staff, visitors, and guests from around the world – and your conduct contributes significantly to the trust in the Parliament's operations. Therefore, the position is characterized by professionalism and a strong service mindset, where safety and accessibility always go hand in hand.
In addition to working closely with colleagues within your own department, you will collaborate closely with other departments, units, and professional groups. This may involve jointly planning for visits and events to create smart and efficient solutions for various security issues.
Changes in our external environment affect us significantly, so we are constantly working to develop our working methods. This means you will likely be involved in various projects and working groups where you have the opportunity to contribute ideas and enthusiasm.
Your qualifications
After completing upper secondary education, you have gained experience in some form of practical security work – preferably from the security industry, the Swedish Police Authority, the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the Swedish Customs Service, or another operation we consider relevant. Additionally, having a Protective Security Officer course, HAS (High Availability Security) training, or leadership experience is meritorious.
Experience as an instructor, for example in healthcare, security checks, weapons handling, conflict management, law, or self-defense, is also considered an advantage.
We are looking for someone who is meticulous and has high integrity. A clear security mindset with a healthy dose of skepticism is another important trait. You have an eye for detail and are alert to deviations, while also having the ability to see the bigger picture.
We expect you to handle stress well and to be able to take a leadership role when the situation demands it.
To fit the role of Protective Security Officer, you need to be resilient and able to maintain high mental sharpness even during low-intensity periods. With very short notice, you must be able to switch gears to act quickly and decisively with continued good judgment when incidents occur.
You are a team player who takes responsibility for more than just yourself. In your collaboration with others, you are friendly, unpretentious, and solution-oriented, actively contributing to a good atmosphere at work. Furthermore, you have a good ability to think independently and can question things constructively, contributing to our development as a team and in the workplace at large.
Since communication is one of our most important work tools, it is a strength that you enjoy communicating and doing so clearly. You are good at both absorbing and conveying information, both verbally and in writing.
The position is classified at a security level and requires Swedish citizenship and a passed security clearance check. The employment may be subject to war-time placement. The position is full-time. It is a permanent position with a probationary period. Selection tests will be conducted at the Swedish National Board of Military Assignments (Plikt- och prövningsverket) before employment. The tests include psychological and physical assessments, which you must pass to be considered for the position. We welcome applicants with diverse experiences and backgrounds.
Employee engagement is important to us. Working with us means you are expected to act in accordance with our view of employee engagement: achieving results, developing, and collaborating.
What we offer you
At the Swedish Parliament Administration, you will work with stimulating, developmental, and socially beneficial tasks close to the heart of democracy. Here you will find professional challenges and good conditions regarding holidays, occupational pension, parental leave, and competence development. The Parliament's premises include a gym and training facilities with various workout sessions offered daily. We strive for our employees to have a good balance between work and leisure. We offer the possibility of remote work to a certain extent.
