Sweden's most beautiful workplace is looking for a

Pilotage Operator on the East Coast

based in Stockholm

The Swedish Transport Administration (Sjöfartsverket) is responsible for providing pilotage services in Swedish waters. Pilotage assignments are ordered through a traffic center, where pilotage operators ensure that assignments are planned as efficiently as possible, based on customer needs and the availability of pilots on duty.

Job Responsibilities

As a pilotage operator, you will receive pilotage orders, distribute pilotage assignments, record operational times, ship arrival and departure times, and handle ongoing administrative tasks related to the pilotage process. At times, the work pace is fast, and you are expected to handle multiple issues simultaneously. Circumstances may change with short notice, requiring you to quickly adjust your planning.

The work is performed on irregular hours, both day and night. A valid medical certificate confirming fitness for night work is required prior to the start of employment. Pilotage planning is currently carried out from the Värtan Terminal in Stockholm, covering the area from Oxelösund to Kalix.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with at least a three-year upper secondary school diploma and a valid SRC (Short Range Certificate) radio license. It is important that you can express yourself well, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English. You should also be computer literate and able to handle various IT systems with ease. Further education in maritime studies and/or work experience in the maritime industry is meritorious. A Class VIII Shipmaster's Certificate is considered an asset. Education in logistics is also meritorious. Experience in service roles, preferably within logistics, is also valued.

We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is skilled at planning, stress-resistant, able to make quick decisions, and able to reprioritize when circumstances change. You are communicative and passionate about providing good service to our customers. Since you share responsibility for the operations with a team of other pilotage operators, teamwork, solution-focus, and a high sense of responsibility are crucial qualities.
