The Swedish Defence University is an internationally leading institution within defence, crisis management and security. We educate civilian and military managers, experts and researchers who are to analyse and handle current and future crisis situations and security problems. The Swedish Defence University educates Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research within law with a focus on operational law and international law, defence systems, military science, leadership and management, military history and political science.
The Security Department at the Swedish Defence University is now seeking a specialist with a focus on physical security. We are looking for you who have a genuine interest and knowledge of security and security protection.
About the workplace
The Security Department is organized as part of the institution's operational support and covers preparedness, crisis preparedness, security protection and operational security. The position is part of the security protection and operational security area but may also become involved in other areas. The employment is located in Stockholm.
Job Description
Your responsibilities include overseeing physical security, including at a strategic and requirement-setting level. You will be responsible for developing and implementing requirements based on security protection legislation. Analysis work and advisory services within information security will also be part of the duties, as well as developing methods and processes. In this role, you have many contact points and collaborate with internal and external partners with a focus on continuous development. Through environmental scanning, you keep yourself updated within your area of expertise. The duties include, among other things:
- strategically planning physical security at the Swedish Defence University
- developing and writing internal regulations within both operational security and security protection
- responsible for an analysis-driven approach in accordance with the Swedish Armed Forces' regulations on security protection and investigations within the framework of physical security
- conducting training within the area of operation
- working with security protection analysis and security protection plans
The duties may change over time as the operations develop. You will have close cooperation with the Head of Security and Security Protection.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for you who have:
- a relevant academic degree or other education/work experience that the Swedish Defence University assesses as equivalent
- several years of work experience and current competence within qualified security protection work within physical security
- relevant knowledge in security protection acquired through education or work experience
- very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience of leading projects in building and security technical matters
- current experience of conducting training in security protection
- knowledge of NATO regulations for physical security
- experience of setting requirements for protective measures within, for example, acoustics, fire protection, ballistic protection or blast protection
- experience of working with risk and/or security analyses
- experience of working in the public sector, preferably from a government agency and/or higher education institution
The above qualifications must be verifiable upon request through certificates, references, as well as work or selection tests.

It is important that you have good judgment, a professional attitude and high integrity. The strategic level of the work requires a high analytical ability where you should be able to identify and describe deficiencies and problems, while being pragmatic and solution-focused.
You are structured and thrive working both independently and in a group in an event-driven operation where you can plan, prioritize and deliver with a flexible attitude. You lead and organize your work forward and take own initiatives from a holistic perspective.
The work requires good cooperation skills and the ability to build good relationships, and you find it easy to collaborate with different professional categories. You actively contribute to a good working climate in the work group.
Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
About the employment
This is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period.
The employment involves placement in a security classification. In the event of placement in a security classification, a security check with register control will be carried out before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Swedish citizenship may be required.
The employment may involve war posting. If you are already war-posted in your current employment at an agency and your competence is needed in the Swedish Defence University's war organization, a negotiation will take place between the relevant agency and the Swedish Defence University regarding where you should be placed.
