Company Description

AFRY offers services within engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts within industry, energy, and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordic region. Together, we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.

Job Description

Do you want to contribute to safer workplaces and a more sustainable future? We are looking for you who want to work broadly within occupational health and safety, health, security, and quality – in both line operations and projects.

As part of AFRY's Industry Division, you will become a key player in the Nordics' largest Safety organization, a consolidated force of over 150 experts in occupational health and safety, machine safety, process safety, fire protection, as well as civil protection and emergency preparedness, distributed across approximately 30 offices in Sweden. Here, you work at the forefront together with both the European Commission, standardization bodies, and national authorities to influence and develop future safety requirements.

As an HSE/Occupational Health & Safety Consultant, you work in an advisory role where you support businesses and projects with both operational and strategic issues. Assignments can vary from longer-term assignments with a client to shorter interventions in different project environments.

You work closely with managers, project managers, and employees and contribute to developing safe, efficient, and sustainable ways of working. The role involves great variation and the opportunity to work in several industries.

You are part of our national specialist group, where you can work both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.

Your responsibilities may include among other things:

  • Support and develop systematic work environment management (SAM)
  • Identify risks, conduct risk assessments, and drive improvement measures
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and standards
  • Develop and implement management systems (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
  • Conduct internal audits, gap analyses, and reviews
  • Handle incidents, near-misses, and investigations
  • Plan and conduct training within occupational health and safety
  • Report and follow up on KPIs and authority requirements
  • Act in roles such as HSE advisor, occupational health and safety coordinator, or safety manager in projects

The location is flexible. We have the opportunity to hire in several locations in central Sweden, such as Stockholm, Uppsala, Gävle, Västerås, Karlstad, Falun, or Borlänge. Travel within and outside Sweden may occur in the role.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

  • Have relevant education in occupational health and safety, HSE, engineering, or equivalent
  • Have a few years of experience working within HSE/occupational health and safety, preferably in both project and production environments, so we believe you may have worked in construction/civil engineering and/or manufacturing industry
  • Have good knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, risk management, and systematic work environment management
  • Have experience with, or knowledge of, BAS-P/BAS-U (Swedish construction safety coordinators)
  • Hold a valid B driving license
  • Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

If you also have experience with quality and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001) as well as experience in developing safety culture, leading training, or driving improvement work, we consider this meritorious for this role.

To thrive with us, we believe you are a team player with a strong interest in technology and a desire to build relationships, both internally and with customers. You are solution-oriented, flexible, and thrive in a role where you handle multiple tasks in parallel. The role also involves responsibility for planning and structuring your work, managing budgets in your assignments, and ensuring deliveries within agreed timeframes. We are looking for someone who is curious, takes initiative, wants to develop, and wants to contribute to moving our work forward.
