Job Description
We are looking for three care assistants for two children's homes in Växjö. You will have the opportunity to create security, structure, and contribute to the development of the children's skills based on their abilities. Housing with special support for Children and Youth under Section 9:8 of the LSS Act is offered to children and young people with disabilities who, despite various support measures, cannot live at home. We place great emphasis on the residence having a home-like environment with family-like relationships where the staff are key figures. Two children/young people live in each residence.
Working hours are scheduled for day/evening/weekend, and at one of our residences, night shifts are also worked. During weekdays, most shifts are scheduled for the afternoon/evening and sometimes night shifts. It is important for us to have a stable staff group as continuity is important for the children to feel stability and security with a limited number of people in their daily lives.
Children and young people residing at our homes have physical and intellectual disabilities as well as neuropsychiatric diagnoses. The tasks involve providing support, care, and security to children and young people, as well as contributing to increased quality of life through various activities. Collaboration with guardians and schools is central to contributing to the children's development.
The working method is pedagogical and structured, and the importance of play is significant. We place great emphasis on having positive and solution-focused staff groups.
Staff use alternative communication with the children. This takes place in the form of, among other things, picture support, communication tablets, communication maps, symbols, and signs as support. The work at the children's/youth residence is stimulating and challenging. As staff, you become an important person in the children's upbringing and get to follow their development over time. Due to challenging behaviors in certain situations and high noise levels, the work can be mentally and physically demanding.
Qualifications
- Approved education from the Child and Youth program, Care program, and/or other pedagogical education considered suitable.
- Swedish language skills in both speech and writing.
- Category B driver's license.
We are looking for you who have a structured and pedagogical approach towards the children/young people. You adapt your interaction and working method based on the needs of the children/young people and are flexible in the face of changes. Creativity, initiative, and playfulness are further important qualities to motivate the children/young people to be active and participate in activities. You must have a solution-oriented attitude and good care skills. It is important that you can keep up with the children's pace and participate in activities such as bathing, cycling, etc.
You have a professional interaction and good cooperation skills with everyone in the children's/young people's vicinity, such as guardians, relatives, schools, and colleagues.
You have an open, attentive, and humble attitude towards children/young people, staff, and relatives. It is of utmost importance that you are a calm person who has patience and inspires security.
Merits
Experience of work within LSS operations, neuropsychiatric diagnoses, and experience of working with challenging/outwardly directed behaviors. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), clarifying pedagogy, and sign support are additional knowledge areas that are meritorious. Knowledge of the documentation system Lifecare. There are also medical interventions, so experience in these areas is meritorious.
