Job Description
The Product and Verification department at GTC consists of a team of 19 skilled Solid Mechanics Engineers working in various cross-functional project groups focused on the design and development of future product solutions for commercial engines. We are now in an expansion phase and are looking for several engineers within solid mechanics to help us in our work to achieve the goal of sustainable aero-engines. As a Solid Mechanics Engineer, you will contribute to concept development and the sizing of components for engines, demonstrators, and test rigs, as well as be responsible for ensuring their structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to various stages of product technology development using your knowledge and experience in solid mechanics.
- Support concept development and the sizing of components for engines, demonstrators, and test rigs using your expertise in the finite element method, strength, fatigue, and fracture mechanics.
- Define and establish analysis and verification logic to meet the requirements and goals of technology components and product solutions.
- Validate methods and designs through the analysis of simulations and tests.
- Document and present analysis results internally and to external partners.
- Identify technology gaps and new opportunities for technology development.
- Contribute to the development of GKN as a "Great Place to Work," in line with core principles: safety, innovation, openness and honesty, care and respect, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a CAE Engineer in solid mechanics, preferably within the aerospace industry.
- Knowledge of and experience with CAE simulation tools, preferably ANSYS Workbench and ANSYS Mechanical (APDL).
- Expertise in strength and fatigue.
- Fluent English.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with CAE simulation tools; experience with Simcenter and NASGRO is considered an asset.
- Experience with material and component testing is desirable.
- Experience with rotor dynamics is desirable.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, both conventional manufacturing and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with design optimization.
- Documented programming competence in Python.
