As a Welding Engineer, you will work with a wide range of tasks ranging from daily production support to the development of new products and technologies. You will help ensure that capable manufacturing processes are created with regard to welding and that the products have the right prerequisites to be delivered with world-class quality.
The company is currently facing exciting challenges with next-generation rocket nozzles, an accelerating additive manufacturing (AM) journey, and a growing share of welded products for the civil market. You will join a great team of welding engineers and work on exciting projects while supporting daily production.
About the Company
GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division working on aircraft engine parts form the Engines business unit. At the facility in Trollhättan, advanced parts for aircraft and space rocket engines are developed and manufactured. They also work on engine maintenance.
GKN Aerospace has production facilities in Trollhättan, Kongsberg (Norway), Mexico, and the USA. They also have an engineering office in Bangalore, India, and offices in Stockholm (Public Affairs) and Gothenburg. The headquarters for Engines is located in Trollhättan.
Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, among other things:
- Develop, improve, and qualify processes through work on welding parameters, automation of welding processes, and fixture development
- Provide specialist knowledge in various types of development projects
- Monitor and analyze process capability
- Production review of drawing documentation
- Participate in investments and implementation of new technology
- Evaluate and review the manufacturability of products
- Contribute to the development of training materials and train, instruct, and certify welding operators.
- Introduce new methods, equipment, instructions, and procedures within welding
- Continuously improve welding processes and existing working methods

Requirements for the Position
- Technical university education, production technology vocational education, or other relevant education/experience. IWE and IWS education is meritorious.
- Relevant experience in welding
- Analytical ability and being a good problem solver
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to work flexibly and quality-oriented to find technical and sustainable solutions of high quality
- Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Meritorious for the position:
- Experience of or knowledge about welding methods LBW, GTAW, EBW, PAW, and RW
- Experience of and knowledge about Additive Manufacturing
- Experience from production technology work
- Robot and automation knowledge
- Knowledge of materials in the Aerospace industry such as titanium and superalloys
