Strategic Buyer in Stockholm.

Do you want to work in a large, growing procurement organization where you contribute to a safer Sweden? At the Swedish Armed Forces, you will have a key role where your work makes a difference every day. We, the Swedish Armed Forces, defend Sweden, our allies, and our freedom and right to live as we choose!

About the Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces' procurement unit is located within FMLOG (Swedish Armed Forces Logistics) and is responsible for the Armed Forces' tenders and purchases in accordance with current procurement legislation. The work we carry out is crucial for the Armed Forces' supply as well as its strategic and operational capability. We work according to a defined category-driven methodology.

The procurement unit consists of seven departments geographically distributed across Sweden. We are now looking for a strategic buyer for our External Goods and Services department in Stockholm. We are unpretentious, helpful, and value mutual trust. Our daily work is characterized by continuous competence development, while we also value well-being and balance – therefore, we offer flexible working hours and the opportunity to exercise for three hours a week during working hours.

Main Responsibilities

In your role as a strategic buyer, you will be part of a Category Team, and your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Independently planning and executing tenders of varying complexity, from developing commercial strategies, conducting needs analyses and market surveys prior to tendering, developing tender documents, performing bid evaluations, and leading supplier negotiations, while ensuring commercial viability.
  • Being responsible for maintaining strong business relationships with your suppliers and ensuring continuous contract management and supplier follow-up.
  • Building and developing strong relationships with our orderers and customers throughout the Swedish Armed Forces organization.

Qualifications

Required attributes for the position include:

  • Relevant academic education, vocational training with a commercial focus, or equivalent knowledge acquired through relevant work experience assessed by the employer as equivalent.
  • At least three years of recent experience in conducting tenders with a focus on commercial viability.
  • Excellent skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Personal Attributes

We value a person who is commercially minded, meticulous, analytical, solution-focused, and has the ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers. The ability to overview needs and see the big picture to meet the Swedish Armed Forces' procurement needs is of great importance. It is important that you are a team player and value the team before the individual. We place great emphasis on personal attributes.

Merits

It is an advantage if you have one or more of the following experiences:

  • Tenders according to LOU (Public Procurement Act) or LUFS (Swedish Armed Forces Procurement Regulations).
  • Category-driven work.
  • Project management or project work.
  • Work in large, complex organizations.
