About the position

We are looking for a secure and responsive substitute caregiver for a young boy living in Vaxholm. As a substitute, you relieve the parents and spend time with the boy on his terms. With this client, your main task is to play and interact with the boy: initially in the home and in its immediate vicinity. In the long term, it may also become relevant to engage in activities outside the home, such as visits to play centers or playgrounds. The purpose is partly to free up time for the parents to spend with siblings and perform household chores, but also to contribute to the boy having a meaningful leisure time.

The number of working hours may vary depending on how many hours the client is granted, and this client is granted substitute service for 30 hours/week. There is no scheduled working time; instead, the hours are usually distributed on afternoons, evenings, and weekends, and are set in consultation and dialogue with our client and project manager. Since the boy feels most secure at home, you will initially spend time there together with the family, but in the long term, also time on your own both inside and outside the home.

About the client

The boy has autism level 2 and language disorder (DLD). However, he is very social and is happy to talk about his interests, enjoys playing role-playing games, and playing games on the iPad (such as Minecraft, Roblox). The boy communicates with some pronunciation difficulties in a mix of English and Swedish. He gets stressed easily when he is not understood, which requires you to be patient and responsive. The boy is very sensitive to demands of all kinds, even ordinary daily routines.

About you

We are looking for you who is calm, stable, and has a great understanding of neuropsychiatric diagnoses. You need to have great patience and be able to adapt to the client's daily mood and act based on a low-affective approach. It is important that you have good language comprehension in Swedish and English and are communicative and responsive, as the boy needs support in his speech. It is very positive if you have knowledge and interest in digital games, animals, and nature, as the boy is happy to communicate about these topics. You need to be relatively mobile and able to sit on the floor and play, as well as move in the forest and at playgrounds.

You are also comfortable working in a home where there is a dog. It is an advantage if you have experience of similar work or the target group from before, as well as knowledge about NPD (Neuropsychiatric Disorders) or an interest in learning more.

As a substitute with us, you play a crucial role in creating a secure and meaningful everyday life for our client. You will be an important part of their life and contribute to their independence and well-being. From March 1, 2026, new regulations apply meaning that the register check covers both extracts from the criminal record and extracts from the suspicion register. The extract is ordered via the Police Authority's e-service. Note that processing time may vary, so the order should be made in good time.
