Your Role

In the role of Special Education Teacher, you work with students in grades 1-9 who are in need of special support. At the school, another special education teacher works with whom you collaborate closely and share responsibility. Together with teachers, students, and guardians, you create the best conditions for student learning through support measures, adaptations, and good relationships.

As a special education teacher, you work actively with teaching and support students through individualized measures in the classroom, in smaller groups, and individually. At the same time, you are responsible for planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching based on the curriculum and the Education Act. With security and engagement, you mentor and support colleagues and work teams, contributing special pedagogical competence regarding adaptations, teaching strategies, and learning environments. You keep up-to-date with current research within special pedagogy and share your theoretical knowledge and pedagogical competence. You observe, document, follow up, write action plans, apply for additional funding, and create action programs and pedagogical investigations of students' need for special support. Furthermore, you conduct and analyze screenings and other mappings.

The work takes place in close collaboration with the special education team, teachers, school management, and the student health team. Together, you work across professions with remedial, promoting, and preventive measures based on the students' needs. You lead meetings with students and guardians to inform about and discuss chosen measures, and collaborate regarding the students' needs with other actors, both within and outside the school.

Your Experience

For this position, you are required to have:

• Teacher certification and a Special Education degree with specialization in language, writing, and reading development or mathematics development.
• Experience working as a teacher in lower and/or middle school.
• Experience working as a special education teacher in language, writing, and reading development and/or mathematics.
• Knowledge and experience in mapping needs and documenting support measures, such as pedagogical investigations and action programs.
• Good digital competence with experience working with digital pedagogical tools.
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

It is meritorious if you also have experience mentoring teachers.

With a good holistic view, you take the larger perspective into account in actions and decisions, always with the best interests of the students and the operation in focus. You work based on set goals and support students in reaching them, while having the ability to set, analyze, and evaluate goals. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We Offer

Älta Resource School is a new operation for students with various NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses in grades 1-9. The school opened in August 2025 and has space for approximately 40 students. We are located in the nature-rich Älta, close to the sea, lakes, and forests, with good communications to Slussen, Nacka, and Värmdö. The operation is located in a part of the newly built Stavsborgsskolan, with its own entrance and fine, modern, and purposeful premises for teaching, after-school activities, and lunch. We have a high staff density, very satisfied guardians, and close collaboration with Älta's three primary schools. Parking is offered at a reduced monthly cost.
