About the Workplace

Maria Preschool is located in central Gällivare, close to the library, swimming pool, and museum.

Maria Preschool organizes its activities into age-segregated groups. The preschool consists of 2 buildings with separate courtyards. One building houses 3 departments for children aged 1–2 years. The other building has 5 departments for children in age-segregated groups aged 3–5 years. At Maria Preschool, we work in 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old groups, meaning that work teams collaborate across departments, giving children the opportunity to explore and discover different learning environments.

Job Responsibilities

Working as a resource teacher means you will be an additional person in the work team, enabling the preschool to better support children with special needs. You will work closely with a child who requires tube feeding, thereby becoming an important support in the child's daily life at the preschool. You will be part of the work team, and together you will create a safe, stimulating, and developmental learning environment for the children. The curriculum (Lpfö 18) describes the work and education the preschool offers.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as a preschool teacher (barnskötare) and have experience working with children who have special needs. Experience with tube feeding is meritorious (training and introduction are provided). Under the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

It is important that:

• you are familiar with our guiding document, the Curriculum for the Preschool (Lpfö 18),
• you are a confident and clear leader, able to take initiative, are positive, and trust in the children's various competencies. Personal suitability is highly valued.
• you value trustful relationships with children and guardians and have good collaboration skills.

You will need to provide a certificate of no criminal record (extract from the police register) for work in schools and childcare upon employment.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, fixed-term employment for the school year 2026/2027. The position will be filled provided it does not need to be taken by existing staff due to redundancy or other reasons.

Salary
