About the School
Sjöparksskolan is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal upper secondary school located in the town center, situated next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena.
The school has approximately 410 students and 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements of an upper secondary school and features a modern design. The school works actively to create good learning environments, promote collegial learning, and develop sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The unit has school nurses and school counselors on site. Additionally, there are special needs educators, social pedagogues, study and career counselors, and two key pedagogues working to develop the school's digital competence. A caretaker is available to cover short-term absences. Lead teachers work on subject development. The school is divided into three work teams, each led by a team leader. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues, both during induction and in daily teaching work. The school offers opportunities for students with special needs to work in smaller teaching groups, and a preparatory class for newly arrived students is available.
Job Responsibilities
As a teacher at Sjöparksskolan, you work with everything related to teaching. You prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate students' progress as well as your own teaching. You collaborate closely with guardians and actively participate in school meetings as well as in the school's and your own development. Most teachers also work as responsible mentors for a class.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a teaching license in Wood and Metalwork for grades 7–9. You have a present and attentive attitude towards students' different needs, are a clear leader, and have good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and quick to take initiative. We develop our work through pedagogical dialogues and collegial learning, and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working. Personal suitability is given great importance. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish.
