We are now looking for a Senior IT Security Technician for the Swedish Council for University and University Colleges (UHR).

What you will do/be responsible for

As a Senior IT Security Technician, you are responsible for the practical application of IT security measures within the agency's IT infrastructure and systems. You report to the Unit Manager for Systems and User Support and work closely with infrastructure technicians, workplace technicians, and the IT security specialist. You act on discovered vulnerabilities and initiate preventive measures to minimize IT security risks.

Examples of tasks include:

• Establish and maintain security configuration policies in systems and platforms
• Configure firewalls
• Establish and maintain monitoring alerts sent to the Security Operation Center (SOC)
• Manage solutions for identities, permissions, anti-virus, endpoint protection, and encryption
• Monitor security updates (patching)
• Handle IT security incidents
• Monitor technological developments in the field of IT security

Other tasks may also occur as it is a relatively small organization where there is sometimes a need to be helpful in areas within the unit and department that extend beyond the daily role. Furthermore, the organization is in a build-up phase where there is an opportunity to contribute your competence and experience outside your own group.

You who apply

You have:

• Relevant post-secondary education in e.g., IT/Computer Science or relevant work experience that the employer deems equivalent
• At least 3 years of experience leading, driving, and monitoring work within the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of IT infrastructure, related IT services, and technical platforms
• At least 3 years of experience with established methods, processes, and tools within the area of responsibility
• At least 3 years of experience working largely independently and in collaboration with others based on applied guidelines and practices within the organization
• At least 3 years of experience handling IT security incidents
• Very good ability to apply security solutions practically in a business-adapted manner
• Good knowledge of laws, regulations, and frameworks for IT and information security such as CIS Controls and ISO 27001
• Very good ability to be proactive, have a holistic view, be flexible, and collaborative
• Very good proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you have:

• Certifications within the IT security field
• Experience managing platforms for data security, data governance, and compliance such as Microsoft Purview
• Good knowledge of system administration and management of infrastructure platforms such as Windows and Linux
• Experience from the public sector

To function well in the role of Senior IT Security Technician, you have a strong interest in technology and enjoy working with various types of technical IT solutions.
