Description

We are looking for an engaged school nurse to join our student health team.

Adapted Upper Secondary School within the Education Administration in Gothenburg consists of 9 different schools located geographically spread across the city. Adapted Upper Secondary School is a distinct school form with its own curriculum. Here, over 400 students study on national and individual programs. The schools work based on each student's needs, development, opportunities, and prerequisites. We are constantly developing the pedagogical activities to achieve increased goal fulfillment for our students. The students are at different developmental levels and have intellectual disabilities, sometimes with additional disabilities such as autism, mobility impairments, visual or hearing impairments.

Job Responsibilities

Those of us working within Adapted Upper Secondary School strive to create accessible learning environments where all students can develop as much as possible based on their prerequisites. By linking health and learning, you, as a school nurse, contribute to the students' well-being and their ability to achieve the goals of the education.

You will become one of two school nurses in the Adapted Upper Secondary School's student health team. The two school nurses divide the assignments and school units between them. We are now looking for a school nurse with main responsibility for 3 school units in the area around Skånegatan. You and your colleague collaborate closely, and as additional support in your work, you are part of a network for school nurses led by a medically responsible school nurse.

The student health team is organizationally united under a common unit manager. The student health service is mostly carried out at our schools and is shaped in collaboration with the principals. The student health team collaborates in health-promoting and preventive work around the students and works closely with principals, teachers, and other school staff to ensure students' goal fulfillment.

Your work as a school nurse includes, among other things, following the base program for the City of Gothenburg, conducting health conversations, and administering vaccinations. You participate in the schools' student health meetings and provide medical expertise in various issues and contexts where you collaborate with educators, principals, and others working at the school in promotional and preventive measures. You analyze how the student's medical history and current situation affect the need for support and interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels. The assignment may also include reading medical investigations and being part of the reception process for new students to the Adapted Upper Secondary School.

If you have questions about the position, do not hesitate to contact the student health unit manager, Karin Montheli.

Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse with further education as a pediatric nurse, district nurse, or school nurse. We would appreciate it if you have experience working with people who have intellectual disabilities and/or neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD).

Since the position involves many contact surfaces, it is important that you are a social, flexible, structured, and sensitive person with excellent teamwork skills. You can work both independently and in a team. You have the ability to inspire and engage your colleagues, are proactive, and see possibilities in different situations. You communicate well with colleagues, students, and guardians.

You have good digital competence as much of the daily work is digitized. The student health service uses the digital tool PMO.

Other

For your interview, you need to bring a passport/national ID and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is because, as an employer, we need to verify your identity and ensure that you have the right to work in Sweden.

With reference to the laws regulating register checks, anyone offered this position must produce an extract from the criminal record register before an employment contract can be drawn up.

For positions where there are educational requirements, you will be asked to submit documentation proving your education, e.g., license or diploma, if you proceed in the recruitment process. You can also attach them directly to your application.
