Do you want to help strengthen the opportunities for Helsingborg residents to participate, influence, and engage in the city's development? We are now looking for a Democracy Coordinator who is curious about how we can use residents' perspectives in the development of Helsingborg City's operations.

About the Workplace

Helsingborg City has approximately 11,000 employees and 470 managers. The City Management Administration is one of nine administrations. It is led by two deputy city managers and is organized into seven different departments. The City Management Administration exists for others – for colleagues, other administrations, Helsingborg residents, and businesses, to name a few. The City Management Administration is responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating the municipality's operations in overarching and common areas to provide conditions for a positive development of Helsingborg.

The position is located within the Unit for Democracy and Inclusion. The unit's task is to coordinate and develop the city's work with involvement, equal rights, and opportunities. The unit is also responsible for promoting residents' engagement and the city's civil society, as well as conducting general elections. The unit consists of a unit manager and 9 employees.

Responsibilities

As a Democracy Coordinator at the City Management Administration, you play a key role in the city's development work by creating conditions for our operations to involve residents in a systematic and value-creating way. You work across the city and combine strategic development work with practical support to colleagues and operations with the aim of strengthening forms of participation and influence.

A central part of the assignment is the system administrator responsibility for the city's digital involvement platform. This means you are responsible for the development, administration, and coordination of the platform, as well as acting as support for operations that use it in their work. Another important part is to spread knowledge, build capacity, and inspire other operations in methods and approaches related to involvement and participation. With an analytical and curious approach, you support colleagues and operations in the city by guiding and coaching in processes where we want to gather knowledge, experience, needs, and opinions from those we serve. You keep up to date with what is happening in resident involvement both in the wider world and within the city's organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic degree or other completed post-secondary education relevant to the assignment.

We believe that you:

  • have worked for a few years and are accustomed to planning, coordinating, and driving processes and projects with a focus on dialogue or involvement of residents or users
  • have an interest in digital development and an understanding of how digital tools can support dialogue, participation, and learning
  • have good ability to communicate clearly and pedagogically, even in more complex societal issues and processes
  • are an outgoing and cooperative person who easily inspires others, builds relationships and networks, and meets people with different roles and competencies in daily work
  • are structured with the ability to handle several ongoing assignments simultaneously and are good at meeting deadlines

Experience of working in the public sector and the political decision-making process is meritorious.

We place great value on your personal qualities.
