Ward 16/AVA is an internal medicine acute care unit where we treat patients with a wide spectrum of acute conditions. Here, high patient flow is combined with advanced nursing care, requiring flexibility, clinical skill, and close interdisciplinary collaboration.

In addition to our acute care beds, we have an observation unit and a monitoring unit where we care for patients with intoxications, seizures, anaphylaxis, ketoacidosis, need for NIV, and other conditions requiring close monitoring. Our patients often have short lengths of stay, meaning a person-centered approach, good collaboration, and safe care transitions are crucial for good and secure care.

Job Description

As a Nursing Manager, you have a delegated responsibility for the development of the clinical nursing area in close collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the other Nursing Manager, and the interdisciplinary team, both within and outside the operational area.

Together, you lead, coordinate, and develop nursing care with a focus on quality, patient safety, and person-centered care. You are a clinical role model and a support for the entire care team in daily work, contributing to the introduction, supervision, and training of nursing staff.

You are responsible for developing the unit's working methods and nursing routines based on current research and evidence, ensuring these are implemented and followed in daily work.

A key part of the role is contributing to safe and well-planned care transitions. You work together with colleagues and external partners to ensure a safe discharge process and the right care at the right level. We therefore welcome candidates with specialist competence that can contribute in-depth knowledge in areas such as discharge planning, collaboration, and person-centered care.

The position involves close collaboration with the unit's other Nursing Manager.

As a Nursing Manager, you combine clinical work with development work as agreed (at least 20 percent), and the position includes one weekend per month.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are an engaged and experienced nurse with specialist competence or a master's degree, and who wants to help further develop nursing care at AVA. You are driven by improving care, developing working methods, and sharing your knowledge with colleagues.

You are confident in your professional role and have a genuine interest in nursing development, quality work, and person-centered care. You thrive in a high-paced environment where changes happen quickly and where you need to switch between strategic development work and clinical work close to the patient.

As a person, you are pedagogical, communicative, and inspiring. You easily build trusting relationships, collaborate well with different professions, and have the ability to engage and develop your colleagues. You are structured, solution-oriented, and confident in making decisions even when conditions change rapidly.

Being a Nursing Manager means you have real and formal competence according to Step 5 for Competence Ladders - Region Stockholm. Formal competence means you meet one of the following:

  • Licensed nurse with a master's degree
  • Specialist nurse
  • Licensed midwife with a master's degree or equivalent competence defined by the unit

And:

  • Clinical experience in relevant specialty/acute care (at least 5 years)
  • Nursing pedagogy/Supervisor training in health care (7.5 higher education credits)

Meritorious

  • Specialist training in district nursing, acute care, or other specialist training deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Experience in quality and improvement work.
  • Experience in implementing new working methods or clinical guidelines.
  • Experience in coordinated discharge planning and collaboration between inpatient care, primary care, and municipalities.
