Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our fluid mechanics research group at KTH in Stockholm. The position offers significant opportunities to develop an independent research profile within areas such as turbulence, multiphase flows, interfaces, biofilms, surface technology, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and machine learning for physical systems.
The research focus will be tailored to the successful candidate's expertise and interests. You will work in a creative and international research environment with access to advanced experimental platforms, high-performance computing resources, and a strong network of national and international collaborators. The research is conducted within the framework of an ERC-funded project, offering substantial scientific freedom and the opportunity to explore new ideas.
The duties include conducting high-quality research, publishing in leading scientific journals, contributing to the development of new research areas, and participating in the supervision of doctoral students and master's thesis students. Depending on your background, the work may involve experiments, direct numerical simulations, theoretical modeling, data-driven methodologies, or combinations thereof.
The Department of Mechanics offers an internationally recognized research environment with strong expertise in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, biomechanics, solid mechanics, and acoustics. This position is ideal for you if you are driven by scientific challenges and wish to contribute to future methods for understanding and controlling complex flow systems.
Qualifications
Requirements
- A completed PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- Documented scientific proficiency in fluid mechanics.
- Strong ability to conduct independent research and publish scientific results.
- Good proficiency in English, both spoken and written, as it is required in daily work.
- Pedagogical skills.
- Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues, with a particular focus on gender equality.
- As a person, you are independent, proactive, and have good collaboration skills with other researchers and students.
Merits
- At the application deadline, no more than three years have passed since the PhD degree or an equivalent foreign degree was awarded.
- Experience in international research collaborations.
- Experience in supervision or teaching at the university level.
