• HPB surgery focusing on diseases of the pancreas, liver, and bile ducts
• Emergency surgery, where common diagnoses include cholecystitis and ileus

Surgical Ward 13 is one of four surgical wards within the Surgical and Gastroenterology Department in Lund. Together, we work purposefully to strengthen collaboration, develop our working methods, and create the best possible care, always with the patient at the center.

Job Description

We are now welcoming two nursing assistants to our team.

In your role, you will work closely with patients, providing nursing care to those who have undergone both major and minor surgical procedures. The work includes handling drains, administering tube feeding, and operating medical technical equipment.

Postoperative care involves important tasks such as fluid balance, nutrition, mobilization, and wound care, which are central parts of our daily work. You will work in a team together with doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.

You will encounter patients and their relatives in various life situations and develop the ability to handle people in crisis, grief, and joy. Your task is to offer the best possible care with a focus on relieving, curing, and supporting based on each individual's needs.

The role also includes mentoring and training future colleagues across all staff groups present at the hospital, making pedagogical work a natural part of your role.

As the operations are highly specialized, high demands are placed on you as an employee, but you are simultaneously given good opportunities for competence development to meet these demands. Our clinical nursing manager is on-site during daytime to support you both during the introduction and in your continued development. We also offer continuous internal training, led by both internal and external trainers, to ensure you have a stable and updated knowledge base in your work.

The operations run 24/7 with day, evening, and night shifts. We work with a quota system that is advantageous for employees and provides the opportunity to earn time off. As an employee, you arrange your schedule in five-week periods. We use the Multi Access system, where both preferences and adjustments are handled based on operational needs and by the employees themselves.

Qualifications

We welcome you who are trained as a nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care/general care according to the previous program structure, or are trained as a nursing assistant within the new program structure having studied all specializations. You also have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. It is meritorious if you have professional experience, especially within emergency care or surgery. If you have mentorship training, this is also considered meritorious.
