The Skissernas Museum at Lund University is a dynamic and creative workplace where the artistic process and public art are at the center. Responsibilities

As a host, you are the museum's face to the outside world and ensure that all our visitors receive the best possible hospitality. You are responsible for the safety of visitors and art, staff the entrance and cash desk, give introductions and tours, and welcome different visitor groups. You are an important part of the visitor's experience and provide high-level hospitality.

Eligibility

Only those admitted to undergraduate or advanced level studies may be employed as amanuenses (student assistants). (Chapter 5, Section 10 of the Higher Education Ordinance)

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a student at Lund University and have a great interest in modern and contemporary art. You speak English and understand and can communicate in simple Swedish, and feel comfortable meeting visitors in these languages. You have experience in oral presentations for audiences and are comfortable giving guided tours in English.

For the employment, the following is required:

  • Proof of admission and/or registration certificate from a course or education at Lund University for the autumn term 2026. The studies can be full-time or part-time, on-site or distance.
  • At least one term (30 credits) of higher education studies in art history, architecture, artistic education, or another related subject deemed relevant by the employer. Alternatively, an admission decision for a corresponding course in the autumn term 2026.
  • Documented experience in service and hospitality work
  • Good ability to express oneself orally in English and simple Swedish
  • Experience in giving guided tours or other oral presentations to an audience

Merits for the employment include:

  • Additional language skills beyond English and simple Swedish
  • Knowledge of the museum's collection
  • Knowledge of the museum's focus areas: creative process and public art

You appreciate being a team player in a passionate team, have a listening and flexible approach to hospitality, and are patient and clear. You take responsibility for your tasks and can work structured and independently, even in stressful situations.

Other Information

We are looking for 5-7 amanuenses with work volumes between 10–20% of full-time for a fixed-term employment during the period 14 September 2026 – 27 June 2027, or as agreed.

The working hours are irregular with an average weekly working time of 38 hours if full-time, regulated by a local collective agreement.

Working hours are scheduled every third weekend, which corresponds to 8–9%. The remaining time, approx. 12 hours or 2 work shifts/month, is scheduled continuously according to the needs of the operations and therefore requires flexibility. The work can be scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends.

Attendance at the following occasions is mandatory:

  • Training day, Tuesday 15 September 14:00-18:30
  • Culture Night, Saturday 19 September 14:00-22:00
  • Art Evening, Saturday 17 October, either day or evening
  • Staff Tour, Tuesday 24 November 17:15-19:00
  • Certain days during the Christmas and New Year period, 22 Dec 2026 – 6 Jan 2027 during the museum's opening hours
