The Business Area (VO) Clinical Microbiology, Biobank, Infection Prevention, Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and Practicum consists of five different business branches:
- Clinical Microbiology: Region Skåne's laboratory for microbiological diagnostics and immunity assessments for human infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
- Biobank: Consists of the Central Biobank Unit responsible for Region Skåne's biobank, as well as the Regional Biobank Centre South.
- Infection Prevention Skåne: Region Skåne's expert authority for preventing healthcare-associated infections and reducing the risk of infection spread in care and nursing.
- Occupational and Environmental Medicine South: Expert authority for Region Skåne and the Southern Healthcare Region, tasked with investigating and preventing ill health related to the working environment or surrounding environment.
- Practicum Clinical Skills Centre: Region Skåne's centre for clinical skills training and responsible for coordinating Region Skåne's CPR activities.
We have a total of approximately 275 employees with a large number of different professional groups and competencies based on the needs of each business branch. The position is primarily located in Lund. The Clinical Microbiology branch analyzes around 1.3 million samples per year with an analysis portfolio comprising over 200 different analyses. Our laboratory is accredited according to ISO-15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO-14001.
At the unit for Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Serology, approximately 30 employees work. Diagnostics are performed using molecular biological methods, focusing on the analysis of bacteria, fungi, intestinal protozoa, and viruses. The main analytical method is detection and quantification using real-time PCR, but we also conduct typing activities.

Job Description
We are now looking for two biomedical analysts to join our molecular biology unit in Lund. At our workplace, nothing stands still; new challenges and opportunities arise continuously!
As a biomedical analyst with us, you will have a varied and rewarding job in close collaboration with other professions. You are part of a team that together is responsible for different parts of the diagnostics. You are responsible for all parts of the analysis process, such as assessing sample handling, practical execution of analyses, and assessing analysis results. In addition, you participate in business development and contribute to mentoring and training of students and new colleagues.
The positions are for a permanent position and a fixed-term position. Working hours are Monday to Friday and may include evening and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
We welcome you who are a licensed biomedical analyst with the eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement for the position. It is meritorious if you have practical experience of microbiological work and if you have previously worked with laboratory automation or molecular biological methods.
To thrive in the role, you have good analytical skills and work according to scientific principles. You are a good communicator and have the ability to create engagement and involvement. Furthermore, we see that you are responsible, work in a structured manner, and have a flexible mind with a good ability to find new solutions. You will be part of a cross-professional work team, which requires that you have good cooperation skills and actively contribute to a good work climate.
