Job Responsibilities

Number of positions: 1

The position focuses on supervision of environmentally hazardous operations, agriculture, contaminated land, PCB, waste management, incoming complaints, and health protection, with much of the work conducted in a project-based format.

Within environmental supervision, there are both Class C and Class U operations. Examples of industries you will supervise include wood processing, metalworking, surface treatment, painting, mechanical workshops, recycling centers, and shooting ranges.

The municipality has an old dry cleaner classified as risk class 1 and ten objects classified as risk class 2. Regarding supervision of contaminated areas, a project is ongoing at the former dry cleaner, which is the seventh most contaminated site in Skåne. The municipality oversees the project led by the Swedish Geological Survey (SGU).

Health protection covers everything from preschools and schools to various commercial premises, such as hygiene facilities, as well as multi-family buildings. The role can be adapted based on the applicant's experience and the competency areas that need strengthening within the department.

Qualifications & Merits

You are empathetic and able to balance the roles of service provider and authority representative in your customer interactions. We also expect you to collaborate well and build positive relationships.

Many decisions are made under delegation, but you will also draft official reports and handle information matters for the Environmental and Building Committee, as well as present these cases. Part of the work involves providing advice and information to residents, business operators, and other stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • You have a university degree in environmental and health protection or another education considered equivalent.
  • You believe that good customer service and professional handling are key to success in supervisory work.
  • You have experience in independent case processing in a similar role.
  • You possess good knowledge of the Environmental Code and related legislation.
  • You have excellent command of Swedish, both spoken and written, as the role involves frequent meetings with people and drafting inspection reports and decisions.
  • Experience working in case management systems, such as ECOS, is a plus.
  • You hold a valid car driver's license (Category B).

Employment Terms & Application

Employment Type: Fixed-term position.
Duration: Start date upon agreement. End date: 2027-07-31.

There is an opportunity to combine this role with part-time work as a volunteer firefighter, subject to operational needs.
